Vossen CV4 + AP Racing BBK

The rear set of APs arrived this morning. I'm still waiting on the rears to show up but tracking is showing that they should be delivered tomorrow.

Once they get here, I'm heading straight to the shop! I ended up going with a set of 15 - 20mm spacers. I also installed a set of H&R springs, too. I've pretty much gone ahead and done everything that said I wasn't going to do.

The brakes are awesome! They function fantastically and really give the QX a very aggressive look! FYI, if you decide to go with AP Radi-cals, or any other top-end performance brake set, just remember that the shoes throw off significantly more brake dust than the OEMs. Keeping those wheels nice and clean is going to be a tedious chore.

Another thing is that if you're running the 21" OEM wheels, you really don't need spacers for proper fitment. I only used the 15mm and 20mm spacers to flush out the wheels with the body. Even the massively wide front calipers fit without a problem.

AND

I was able to reuse the OEM front/rear brake lines. They fit perfectly.

what wheels did you end up going with? btw the brake are very very nice :good:

I decided on going with a set of matte black Niche T01 Touring @ 22x10 ET42 (front), and 22x11.5 ET48 (rear). Leaning towards a 275/40r22 front and 305/35r22 rear. As for what brand of tires, I still haven't decided.

Love the eyelids RIPnFX. I saw a set on eBay and I was thinking about buying a set. Looks like it was a pretty easy install, no?

Thanks, the ones on eBay are diff than the ones I have but ya they are easy to install with double sided tape or glue. I used glue as mine started lifting up after a few weeks.

I'm also shocked that AP didn't provide you with stainless steel brake lines. It's usually standard when you buy a bbk.

Wait so for the like $6000 this kit costs they don't come with stainless brake lines?

They did screw up the brake line length, but it's being addressed. As soon as the mechanic brought the line issue to my attention I called Stillen and had the sales guy and brake manager on the phone working with me immediately. Since then I've received numerous emails and follow-up calls letting me know that they are on it and that everything will be handled in the end. It sucks that a kit this expensive didn't leave the factory with everything figured out and ready to go, but it happened, and they have been fantastic about righting the wrong as soon as it was discovered.

I'll post additional info once all the details get ironed out.

Edit: The rear stainless brake lines are installed.

I should've mentioned the stainless steel brake line problem in my original post. I don't know why I didn't include it. My bad!

Awesome glad you got it sorted out. SS lines are a must IMO with a BBK

What size rotors are those 15f/14r?

Those wheels will look nice, especially with the wider rear. Those tires are harder to find since only a couple of brands make them, but it's not a unicorn. I ran 305/35/22 rears for a while with 265/40/22 front. For the 305 size, I think the only choices are Pirelli and Vredestein, at least in a 35 profile. Many more make it in 305/40, but that would be a really tall tire. I ran Pirelli Scorpions when I had the 305 rears. Keep in mind that Pirelli's run really large. So a 305 Pirelli would be like a 315 in another brand.

Not only that, but 275/40 305/35 combo isn't going to work very well with AWD. I think my best option would be to stick with a 265/40 305/35 combo if I'm going to run a staggered setup. If I change my mind on staggering, I would probably go 285/40 all around. Decisions, decisions.

275/40 and 305/35 is still ok for the AWD. You're under 1%, the front is just a tiny bit taller now. I ran 265/40 front with 285/35, 295/35, and 305/35 rears without any issues. Having said that, the 265/40 front would probably look better on a 10" wheel if you're running 305/35 on an 11.5".

The Nitto 420s are crap tires. Everyone I know who has had them has hated them.

Pretty much everyone on this forum uses Yokohama Parada spec x or hankook ventus. Don't know if they make the sizes you want though.

Hankooks in 22" don't exist any longer. Atleast not the RH06.

The paradas have plenty of different options at 22".

There is also the pirelli scorpions, but prices climb steeply at that point.

The rh06 are discontinued but now they have the rh07's out.

It's impossible to find a manufacturer that sells the 265/40r/22 & 305/35r/22 combo.

Pirelli Scorpion: nope
Yokohama Parada: nope
Nitto 420s: nope
Hankook RH07: nope
Continental Cross Contact UHP: nope

Anyone have any recommendations??
