VK56DE, would love to swap this engine...

When you get this done, and I know you will, I may have to get on a plane to NYC to see this in person..

Exciting next few months for you; and us for that matter.. Good luck.

Nice. :smile (2): Glad you are not sticking with the 5AT, it's really not worth it. They just don't hold power, don't care what a shop says they've "tested" to. Daily abuse and actually driving it aggressively the 5AT will eventually fail.

that guy shows only motor tranny complete for $7,400...

gtm claims there built auto at almost $5k is "dyno tested" to 600hp, but that don't mean a lot. that's like saying the stock DE engine is "dyno tested" to 550hp... yeah it is, but it's not gonna last at that kind of power level...

I found a few r32 trannies here in the us & there cheap. the only r34 6 speeds I'm coming up with so far are at Japanese auction sites in japan that Kwame from Z1 showed me. how the heck can something like this be pulled off? there also a bit pricey, but I guess not so out of reasonable really... until the tripple disc clutch comes into play that is:err:

I'm going to pick up the r32 5 speed to start... no matter what it's better than the auto & there cheap & available, I could blow one every few months & not cry too much if I stuck with the r32 one.. really would be enough I think. no question it's already much stronger than any built auto...

but....

now that I see that the r34 6 speed is so much more expensive & so hard to get, of course now I REALLY want one of those though, they are def the ultimate nissan awd gearbox to have :tongue (2):

also, I already found that manual, but it has no sections on the manual tranny or the transfer case at all :(

oh, & either one of you guys feel like coming by the shop to clean up, feel free any time :smile (2):

Don't believe that 600hp tested stuff. They took that Z on a track day and admitted NOT running it at the same power level it dyno'd at. If it even dyno'd at that level.

Boost is addictive. Most people will want more than they start out with. Getting pinned to the seat after letting go of the clutch is fantastic, you are fully engaged no slipping to worry about unless you're clutch can't take it but that's routine maintenance vs. a tranny rebuild.

thanks stu, asking a stranger for help will be a last resort but if it comes down to last resort I'll look him up :)

yeah Viet, I'm already fully convinced that the nissan auto is just not cut out for big numbers period, thanks in no small part to all the input you've given on the subject. I also heard exactly what you said about the differences you saw on the dyno in going from the auto to the 6 speed... your a big part of the reason why I'm now looking at this route. man, I miss the grand national turbo days... back in the day, for like $1,700 I could get a built auto that would handle 700hp all day long:laugh:, these Nissan auto trannies are just too weak... the extra weight were carrying don't help matters much either...

Hey tc6... we wont be upset if you decide to dump the whole RB26DETT into the FX... just saying...
