I was thinking about getting a nice Viper system for my QX. Which one would be the most hi-tech and best system? And is it really worth the money?

I recently got the Viper SmartStart with Python alarm system installed
This thing is the most advance Hi Tech alarm hands down.

I have full control of my FX directly from my Android phone which gives the ability to remotely start, unlock my vehicle from any anywhere in the world via cell phone.

If the alarms goes off I am notified right away with a text message and email.

Also, the GPS enables realtime tracking better than lo jack.

Highly recommend this to anyone who likes to fiddle with gadgets.

Yea it is pretty good I do like that I get a text when my alarm goes off. In order to get all of the alarm features though it does add up quick and am not sure it is all worth it from an alarm perspective. I would get the basic remote and smart start for sure. I am not sure the deal with gps? I THINK that may be extra too but again not sure.

Once you have the smart start you realize how much you use your phone instead of the key just because the range is infinite but there is a few second addiction delay as expected. If you could I would get your Infiniti key set up for the remote start. Mine isn't I don't know how much of a process that is to change.

Overall I for sure say viper is a good investment.

I have the viper smart start without the gps. I love starting the FX when I'm not even close to my car and I'm my way back to leave work and my FX is already ready to go in the parking lot. However the only drawback is that if it's a cloudy or rainy day you tend to have a hard time getting your phone to communicate with the smart start to turn on the car. Overall I love it.

IMO i dont think getting to most expensive OLED model is worth it, neither is the smart start system. It's an Infiniti SUV... Idk about your area but they dont get stolen down here in Miami, FL. I recently had a clifford 5204x installed on my FX - It does everything i wanted it to do (remote start so the interior will cool down in the summer / Automatically lock the doors when i walk away from the car / has a mode where you can leave the car running, lock the doors and take your keys in case if you just have to go in and out somewhere real quick - like when robbing a bank). Didnt break the bank either , $350 installed including remote start.

The smart start feature sounds neat and all, but i think it's overkill for these vehicles. If your 2 way remote doesn't get the signal that the alarm was triggered, then you're probably too far to really care. Who really drops what they are doing to walk for 10 minutes just to see if they can figure out where the shopping cart might have tapped your car?

So my opinion - dont go balls out. Figure out what features you really want / how much you care to spend and go from there.

Is it possible to just get the remote start module and have it sync with the trunk open button on the factory
Fob? I was thinking of getting a fob with the four functions button. ( Lock, unlock, open trunk, panic )
Now even tho my fx35 doesn't have the option of automatic tailgate open. Could I use that button to start the car?
I hope I explained it right. LoL its kinda confusing

I disagree a bit with stealth on the smart start. I agree don't go all out with the viper I wasn't crazy about the alarm for the cost or the led key fob.

However the smart start comes I. Handy all the time! Especially when I drive and with my girlfriend if we go shopping or are far from the car at the time I can start it whereas the remote just wouldn't reach. If you don't have the led remote the simple remote doesn't have great range at all.

When I stayed at my dads who lives in the city my car was in the garage in the building (not heated) and could start my car which was great to get it warmed up.

All that being said you can always install the smart start after the fact. It isn't a very cheap addition but I think it's worth it! Let us know what you do.

To answer the question about the Infiniti fob I think some have it programmed but I am not 100% what you can do

There are a few threads discussing remote starts.

Best combo to go with is a model like the Viper 5104 with basic remotes. Expensive remotes are a waste of money, especially if you are getting a Smart Start module. Have the installer (and you need an excellent installer, can't stress this enough) program the Viper system to work with your factory key fobs so you do not have to carry two remotes since you will always need to carry your factory key fob anyway. The major difference between Viper System models is the remotes buttons/screens and the claim that some have more range than others. If you program your factory key fob to work with the Viper, you will only have to carry one remote and you can use your phone to start the car if you feel like your ever in a position where you need more range.

This is the set up I have and I love it. I definitely recommend the Smart Start. It comes in handy when you are too far to use the remote, which is more often than you may think like at work, or in the movies, out at dinner, at the mall, I could go on forever. In the winter the car gets warmed up nicely before I am anywhere near it, hop in and go.

Happy New Year.

Just installed remote start in my '06 FX45 works with factory remote or remote the system came with.
I wanted a simple remote start that can work with factory remote and not to have to install too many modules.

I went with Bulldog Security Remote Start RS82B the reason I went with Bulldog I've had it in my other car for years with no issues and price.

Install is fairly easy, need extra key.(grind keyways off)

my remote start has been getting a workout lately with these cold mornings. My poor old bones... :bulgy-eyes:
