Vinyl Wrapping...

We all remember this thread right?

///10042

Looks good (for now) but I think this will be a quick passing trend.
Lucky you can reverse it.
I hope it's not as much work to remove it.
No way is a 4 year paint job, i mean, vinyl decal worth 3k. :eek.:
To each his own I guess...
Sorry to offend if I have.
Good luck to those who take this on.
As always, post pics.
Peace

the film is probably around $300ish to do the entire car and my friends are gonna do it with me so essentially it only cost $300ish. Still debating, might just do matte white or gloss black.....

Matte white would look so sick, especially with your gunmetal wheels. I really want to see how the ride looks with all the lower panels covered and your lower front lip.

That BMW looks like blackboard paint. Great idea for an old car, but not a luxury style. I'd rather go with a colour or pattern to make mine different from other cars. Something other than the official Infiniti FX black, brown, white, brown, gray, gray, gray, or bluish black. IIRC colours cost extra with BMW. There's some great looking wraps available.

Just make sure you take the time to do it properly. It's incredibly hard to wrap an entire car (I've done a few full car wraps a while back and it sucks). I'm starting to see more and more cars done badly which makes me think that either shops are cutting corners and competing on price or more people are diy'ing it. Nothing wrong with doing it yourself, but pay attention to the details. If you do it properly, it should look painted. But the recent bad jobs I've seen on the roads are pretty bad. The vinyl isn't stretched properly into small corners around the license plated holder, cut lines in the middle of panels, wrinkles around curves, and sloppy cuts around the glass/door handles and the like. I've also seen ones where the vinyl is bubbly and where they didn't even bother to work the material into creases in the car, they just went right over it and you can see the outline of the depression in the vinyl. From 20 ft., the car looks badass. From 10 ft. it looks "ok". From anything closer and it's just sad. This is happening on really nice cars too, from a Cayenne to an X5 to a 3 series.

Wondered about this for the lift gate, top of rear bumper and rocker areas to prevent cops and scratches. Versus the 3M stuff.

Tough call, looks like a natural then when you see it played out in real life its not so agreeable to the eye. I also think the black bottom top silver is one of the best. Looks a bit gangsta but that specific pic doesn't help the look much.....I wonder what a tone on tone (very subtle color shift like a slightly darker sliver on silver) would look like. Also pretty much needs some kind of pin stripe to break it up correctly.

I do vinyl graphics and promotional products, all kinds of stuff. I have never wrapped a car before but they make a vinyl for wrapping cars, helps cut down on bubbles and easy to do curves, But they dont have all the colors and it bumbs up the cost. Now in just vinyl, they have about any kind of print u can think of, from carbon fiber, camoflage, gold leaf, and ect.

Fellers worlds largest wrap supply

i would love to do this for my front grill and the side fender pieces. Does the vinyl stay on well at high winds (i.e. daily freeway driving)?
