Vibration in Gas/Brake Pedal

Hey Guys,

Curious to know if someone knows anything about this.

Recently i been feeling a slight vibration in my gas pedal when driving and also the same vibration in the brake pedal as well. I just started noticing this as i don't think it was doing it before.

At the same time this started to happen i noticed my belt has been squealing on my car. Thinking maybe the serpentine belt is going bad or maybe needs a adjustment.

Can the belt be what is causing the vibration?

Not likely from belt. Belt just needs adjustment if no cracks in it.
Is the vibration constant, & Do you feel it in the steering wheel?

I feel the vibration mostly when i first start the car when cold. Feel it in the steering wheel and floor also, then once i start driving i feel it in the pedals.

After about 10/15 min or so does not seem to do it as much and it's not always constant so i can kind of eliminate tires/suspension. i think it has something to do in the engine.

Maybe one of the fluids is not filled all the way up?

I just had rear brakes and rotors done not to long ago but i don't think it has anything to do with that.

So it also vibrates at a stand still? Maybe motor mount/s? When you rev it, does the engine tilt in the bay more than normal?

So i feel no vibration when in park revving the engine.

However, i just noticed that my rear brakes that i just got done are making a constant metal sound when driving all the time so i'm leaning towards that since i do feel most of the vibration in the brake pedal.

I'm bringing my car to the dealer to get an inspection and for them to look at the belt also but i'm going to have them check the rear brakes too.

You've probably got a sticking caliper. Do you smell a burn't metal smell when you stop after driving for a little while. The smell will come from the wheel that's got the problem.

Back to square one lol. went to the dealer the other day. They did the inspection, oil change and put a new serpentine belt on.

Had them inspect the brakes and go for a road test to see if they felt the vibration. turns out brakes are good (the noise i heard was coming from the belt) and they said they thought it drove fine, they didn't feel any vibration.

I'm leaning towards the tires now potentially? i honestly only feel it in the acceleration pedal now and the weird thing is after awhile of driving i won't feel it as much but notice a difference on different road surfaces.

Even when i take my foot off the acceleration and rest it on the pedal without pushing it, i'll feel the road vibration.

Can the cold weather have any play in this where its stiffens the suspension/tires and feel more road vibration?

Any thoughts?

I eliminated the fact that it's not the motor mounts because it does not vibrate when i'm accelerating in park.

NYC roads suck, plain & simple. I find at times depending on the type of asphalt, my tires are very noisy. Even on a smooth surface. Other ties they are quiet as a mouse. I think it might be the way they lay the asphalt or the way the salt attacks the road surface....

Yeah, i feel like it might have something to do with the salt on the roads as well.

Deff agree though the roads here are horrible and pot hole central.

Are you on coilovers? I find my BC's stiffen up quite a bit in cold weather... Also, could be flat spots in the tires depending on what brand you have... Mine do it but it does away once the tires are warm... Then it could also just be that your tires are getting old... Old tires are usually noisy and sometimes as they wear, they create tiny vibrations due to uneven wear / old flat spots / lots of other weird crap...

So this is going to sound super weird. Last night i went to my buddies house right before we got some torrential rain in NY. left a couple hours later when the rain was really coming down and guess what, NO VIBRATION AT ALL!? i literally was driving around for a solid half an hour just to make sure i wasn't going crazy lol. i felt slight vibration on some bumpy roads but that's normal otherwise the pedals felt smooth as butter!

What the hell is going on!? are my tires that shitty that i feel so much vibration and dry roads?

The rain eventually turned over to snow overnight and this morning the roads were wet but wasn't raining or anything and pedals went back into vibration mode and car went back to driving like shit.

My tires btw are: Bridgestone dueler H/P P265/60R18

Could still be the tires... That and when it rains, the raindrops and extra sound from splashing distracts you so you don't hear / feel everything like you normally do... There's an old saying that you never test drive a used car in the rain cause you'll miss all the rattles that you can hear during a sunny day...

May want to check the propella shaft. Take a closer look at the u-joint for wear & tare mark. I had this weird vibration at acceleration from stop. It turns out my u-joint snapped off.

Okay, so i had the tires road forced balanced and rotated at the dealer but that did not solve the issue.

Checked under the car looking at the drive train and all the U-Joints everything looks intact and good.

I'm leaning towards something in the engine now because i notice it doesn't do it all the time now. The times i feel it the most, i notice when i stop at a light the car shakes a bit in idle and feel it in the door and steering wheel (nothing crazy) but still feel some vibration.

I'm going to inspect the engine mounts cause that may be a possibility but what else can it be?? This is getting to be really frustrating and just trying to find a solution to fix.

The 1st Gen VK used to have a vibration issue when the oil pan was overflowing (something like you had to add 0.5 L less oil than the manual stated or something weird like that)... Transmissions can sometimes send vibrations through the car at a stop when they start to get old / fluid is a little low / fluid is a little high... So you might want to check your transmission fluid level, or if you haven't changed it in a while, might wanna do a drain and fill...

Still dealing with this issue and its bugging the heck out of me!!

Like i said when it's raining out, i think whatever the issue is, is getting lubricated by the rain and dampening the vibration.

I did however notice the road noise in the front/cabin of the car has been increasing. and lately driving on highway speeds i been starting to feel vibration in steering wheel and just doesn't drive smooth at all.

You think it can maybe be a bad wheel bearing or hub? only thing is i have 47K miles on the car i can't really see those parts going bad.

Any more input would be much appreciated!

Actually sounds like your tires are getting old... Not sure if the fronts are wearing more than the backs, but do a visual inspection and if you notice different wear patterns, swap the fronts with the backs to see if you notice a small difference...

I had the tires rotated and road forced balanced already really made no difference. i mean, i keep thinking it's the tires also idk why that would do that though.

prior to me buying the car i think it was sitting for awhile. I bought it and drove the car for a good year or so until it was sitting in my garage for another year later. once i started driving it again it was fine for about 2-3 months then started getting this issue. So it may very well be the tires.

I guess i need to do some trial and error and swap tires first to see if that's the issue.
