Hello Infiniti family,

So, I have a FX35 2WD, my car starts but does not carry through to run. When i do get it running, if i drive for more than 2hours the car will shut off when driving. If i stop and shut off the car to do errands, when i try to pull off it wont carry forward. I charge the battery, bought and exchange batteries 4 times now and the same problem. Oh yes and there are days when the battery is completely dead. Help! I think my neighbors are exhausted with me starting the vehicle over and over and nothing. Help please!

This doesn't sound like a battery issue. It is likely a fuel or ignition problem. With the problems you describe, the Check Engine Light must be on. If so, have the codes scanned and go from there. It could be something as simple as a sensor but without codes, you are just guessing.

Thank you for replying. No check engine light but when i scanned it, the EVA for emission DTC flashes red. It used to camshaft sensor but I brought it to the dealer and 500 dollars later. Only for the car to run for 3 days and than back to starting and not running. Than a week of sitting the battery is completely dead.

Won't run and no codes. Sounds like a bad ECU.

Also, it sounds just like what happened to my old Porsche 928. Fuel injection ground had become loose. Start by locating, scrubbing and tightening all of your ground points including your battery ground terminal and ground point.

Okay. I will try and let yoy know how it goes

I had to charge the battery because it was completely drained and it has been starting up and running. A few good days. Back to tge nonsense. I place the scanner on it code is camshaft and crankshaft sensor bank 1 and 2. I paid the dealer to fix this. So.....

Check the connectors on the new sensors. One may not be fully seated. Also, spray contact cleaner on all the plugs and jacks. I use DeOxit (best on the market).

You should invest in a good scanner. My Autel MD808 unit ($150 new) paid for itself the first time I used it.

Cheap scanners lack functionality, like airbags and anti lock brakes, so make sure what you buy can do everything your car needs. I've never seen a phone app that can do it all.

One more thing: have a parts store like Autozone test your alternator and your new battery. Dying alternators can cause all kinds of strange issues.
