Hi guys,

I have a 2006 FX35 that I purchased in Jan of this year. It only has 20k miles and everything is in excellent condition. I recently just started seeing something wrong with my car. When I start the car, my VDC and SLIP lights come on and won't go away. Can someone tell me what this is and if dealers usually covers stuff like this. I didnt purchase any warranties but would they fix this for me since it's only been 6 months.

Thanks,

could be many problems but a quick look at the brake fluid will not hurt as that is usually the problem, but others have stated there issues with the light but all seem to be wheel related, like low brake pads, low fluid, speed sensor at these are simple things to do yourself before getting raped at the dealership....

Yeah, lots of things can cause this - someone should really take the time to make a round-up thread for it and combine everything together. Here's what I know (first 5 are from the forum, last one is my personal experience).

1. Speed sensor dirty or faulty
2. Brake fluid low
3. Brake pads need to be replaced
4. ABS system failure, or imminent failure (usually as a result of a neglected faulty speed sensor)
5. Random glitch in the ECU, full ECU reset cleans it
6. Brake switch (best way to test is to park your car backed to a wall, and start pressing the brake pedal. If your brake lights intermittently turn on or flash or sometimes do not engage it's your brake switch. Not a big issue, can be picked up from the dealership for ~20 and replaced yourself in less than 5 minutes)
