valve clatter

hello everyone, i'm new to this forum and was wondering if any of you has had a valve clatter sound when the engine is cold. i purchased the fx35 new in 2004 and this is a first for me. i did use a cheap oil filter about a month ago. also it's been cooler here in jersey. by the way, the sound goes away after 10-15 minutes. the filter is a fram, the oil is castrol gtx 5w 30. tia

Is this the first tim this has ever happened? Is the brand of oil the same you have always used? If the only change is a different brand of filter... i would try changing the filter first and see if anything changes...

yes, i'm going to change the filter and try mobil 1 for the first time this weekend. i will buy the stock filter just to rule this out. thanks for the reply. the vehicle has 52000 miles by the way.
