updated list of speaker replacements

I was wondering if there is a updated list of speakers that will fit my 2006 FX35.
I know boston acoustics are pretty popular but I personally prefer a few others.
Not that bostons are bad, i like them, but prefer a few others. I'm looking at some
polk mm6501 that are 6.5" I think they would fit.

Another question I had was if anyone knows for sure the impedence on the stock bose speakers in the '06 fx35. I have read that they are 2 Ohm and I have also read that they are 4 Ohm so i'm lost. Is it 2 or 4 ohm or is it perhaps mixed 2 in certain location and 4 in another. I hate to ask questions that are already posted else where but this I can not find a sure answer to

in my honest opinion the bose speakers are amazing already

dont know why you would want to change em:tongue::frown:

Super!
thanks for the help guys...

I think I'll just buy some stuff and if it doesn't work, i'll list it on ebay or something.

can someone please help me out here ? im looking to replace the bose speakers. most of the speakers in my ride are blown.

If all you want is stock replacement many are choosing boston acustics. 3.5" up in front dash and 6.5" in the doors. Crutchfield had them listed if you want to see them or see the specs on them. You will have to search around for better prices.

Since most your speakers are blown i'm going to assume you listen to your music loud and would recommend component speakers and amps, otherwise you'll end up blowing your nice stock replacements as well.

I noticed there is no sticky for speaker replacement sizes/depths. Does anyone have a list?

Honestly I can't remember the Depths, up front it's not more than 1 3/8, same in the rear pillar area, and your doors won't be more then 2 5/16". the dimensions aren't deep in the front due to vent tubing etc... that is why so many refence boston, infinity, polk because they make shallow depth speakers. 4" speaker may fit but then you run in to having a speaker that is to deep in length. Your rear pillars will have to be modified a lil to make 3.5 to fit so that connectors don't touch the frame. Like HYME stated crutchfield does have a great size chart in most of their audio catalogs, I just don't have one in front of me but maybe I'll check later to update it here. below I've listed what most already know, sorry I couldn't help you more.
  • Front: 4"(3.5 will work best), 6-1/2"
  • Rear: 6-1/2", 4" (3.5 will work best
  • Dash: 4" (3.5 will work best) has 3 speaker placements (L.C.R)
  • Front door: 6-1/2"
  • Back door: 6-1/2"
  • Rear side panel: 4" (3.5 will work best) 1 in each rear pillar

I know they sell these on ebay

Remove your speakers and run them from there back to the head unit location. of course remove the lower dash to reroute your speaker wires

Well, when I get around to it, probably some time in January, I will add some 6.5" focal component speakers and mount the tweeters up in the front dash where the 3.5" would normally go. Then run the wire's all the way to the back (cargo area) and into an amp.

None of this will happen until i recover from christmas.
I did just get in a mrev2 and 5/16" spacer with copper iso therm.
I'll probably install it after christmas as well (torque wrench is on my x-mas list)
If noone give it to me i'm buying one!

If your using the stock head unit, i don't think so. The bose speakers really come alive with a aftermarket head unit.

I don't think it would make a big difference. Bose utilizes special circuitry that tailors the sound for each individual driver (similar to a crossover). The best thing you can do short of a full system swap is upgrade the source and/or amplification.
