turning to IS for help!

hey guys heres my problem, i ordered a set of plug an play HID's to replace my fogs, and ive been trying to get them installed forever, i took it to a local nissan dealer and asked them to do it, they said they could and spent hours doing nothing, then telling me they coudlnt get it to work because my fogs were wired to be my DTRL's so there wasn't enough power for the HID's, and then charged me 240$. I live in canada and had ordered my FX from the states so it orginally didnt have DTRL's so i had to get it done to make my car legal in canada.

The dealership said if i could get a write up or something about how to install them they would try again, but im not feling overly confident with them, and theres no infiniti dealership even remotely close to where i am. So i'm turning to the experts on here for some help!

p.s. my friend told me if i got the HIDS installed it would void my warranty is this true?

All you need to do is buy a wire harness to draw power from your battery:

bring it to an audio shop, the harness will not be long enough to reach your fogs, so you will need them to splice and length the wires. They can do the install no problem too.

What warranty will it void? If it does void anything, it will be for the fog light specifically, not like your engine or transmission.

U live in Canada or is your car originally from there? Cause I am troubleshooting a duel fog lamp failure and through research I learned the models bound for the american market doesn't have the DTRL's wired the same as those up north.
 
#1 go back and demand your money back for them charging you for doing nothing
#2 If it's plug-and-play it should work but as it was said you need extra power form the battery sometimes depending on the HID kit and the stock setup. Certain cars don't need it

it is correct that fog lights are not wired for DTRL in the US. There is a module you can buy that changes that but it's annoying to do on the 2nd gen so I just hard wired a switch for my fogs to a switch under the dash - but can go back to stock later...
 
And yes, installing HIDs do void your warranty. But no one really checks, I had my fogs installed for over 3 years and never encountered an issue at the service center.
