Fellow FXers (and QX70 5.0ers as well),

Following our global canadian snow melt, it was time to dust the summer shoes and install new hardware. This year, I reinstalled my TSW Nurburgring in Gunmetal (20 x 8.5) wrapped in Toyo Proxes ST II.

Since I wanted to improved the handling, I went with H&R springs. I am now out of specs for camber but since I also track the car sometimes, the outside and inside wear should even out lol.

Finally, I replaced the brake pads. I went from Racing Brake EB500 (aggressive street) to XT910 (aggressive street / light track duty).

The results are quite delicious to say the least! The car is so much nimbler yet the ride feels like it is much more level. Auto damping is less bouncy and Sport is even more planted but so much more confortable thanks to the lightweight wheels (24-25 lbs per wheels instead of 35 lbs per OEM wheels).

I have posted pics in my Garage on IS for all to see.

Next steps will be a tune in June, before track season and probably new tires (I will try the new Michelin Latitude Sport 3 in 275/45/20).I hope to be able to get 2-3 track days this year.

Happy motoring to all of you!

The car looks great with the drop and wheels. I agree with the lighter wheels over the heavy 21s. My lightweight Enkei GTC01 wheels make the car feel so much better than the heavy 21s.

What track do you go to, Calabogie?

Yes Sir, Calabogie is the name!

You know, I actually used to have GTC01 on my former G37xS coupe (wrapped in Michelin Pilot Super Sport in 245/40/19). I really love that wheel. Some GT-R tuners in Japan use this wheel when they go for they max speed runs so I beleive that if the GTC01 can survive 180+ mph runs, it is a mighty fine wheel for the price.

Thanks for the compliments!

Send me a Pm when you plan to go to the runs in Calabogie, It's around a 7 hour drive for me but you never know. I haven't been in that area for a few years.
i had the Pilot Super Sports on PIAAs on my 07 G35, they were nice tires.

Thanks to all of you. I plan to buy a GoPro Silver edition with the goodies to make it as stable as possible during one of my track session. I will make sure to post a link for your comments about (my lack) of driving skills on a track. :rotfl:

Yeti, you said the wheels come in an offset of 20 or 40mm. What offset are you running? They are sitting real nice.

After review of my 2012 emails (when I bought the wheels), offset is +20 MM.

Excellent , thank you. I kind of thought they probably were 20mm, that's perfect for a 8.5" wheel, nice fit.

Yeah, I must say I was quite lucky with the fitment. :) The OEM fitment is ok for winter with the sluch and sand flying around but a flusher fitment is great the rest of the year.:good:
