hey guys, once a again i am the latest victim of the crappy stock cd player, last night i hopped in my car and when the cd played it went right through to the next cd, it kept cycling through all the cds but wouldn't play, it just kept saying check disc? i have no more warranty left so mayb theres a way to diagnose this problem? i can load and eject cd's fine but when i pop it in it trys to load and says check disc, any suggestions?

I've gota stop reading these threads about CDplayers acting up. I'm gona attract a broken one soon.

Sorry I dont have any suggestions but you can try to reset everything. It may be like a windows issue where you have to reboot your computer. But MayFX tried that and it didnt fix it. But who knows...you may have better luck. :err:

Daamn that sucks man. sometimes when im playin music it just changes to the next cd by itself sometimes but whenever i put it back to the original cd it goes back to playing fine. dunno if its a problem or not but i dont wanna go to the dealer just for that lol

if it just cycles through the CD's and doesnt recognize any of them it sounds like the optical lens might be damaged since it cant read anything? not sure though, hopefully someone else can chime in.

ye its pretty ridiculous, thanks guys, any other input, and if its guna cost me hundreds of $$ to fix im not going to do it, not worth my money, i'll just put an aftermarket deck if thats the case , i hope not tho:frown:

alright , i tried disconnecting the battery, turned it back on everything was reset, pop the cd back in , tries to scan, then says check disc??? what my last option , going to the stealership to get it checked out?

^^i think they will charge you just to look at it and tell you something is wrong, and then charge you even more to fix it :err:

give it a shot, you never know.
Or maybe as brown said, can you stick one of those lens cleaning CD's in to clean it?

Sometimes mine will skip a CD and say that CD needs to be checked but I just take them all out, blow them off to get the dust and stuff that builds up on em, put em back in and they run fine....before you go to the dealership you might wanna take them all out and insert a new one, see what it does, could just be the eye needs to cleaned like Keemo said, those cleaning CD's arent a bad idea....

hmm maybe i should give that a try, any good cleaning brands? or all the same crap? can some1 give me a name of where i can get it, and i'll give that a try, also phantom , i took out all of the cds and tried it out still the same, i guess i'll try the lens cleaner

they all do about the same thing, put a fine brush or wipe in a track that cleans the eye when the track is played, some are dry some are wet, radioshack had a decent one with a pad & a brush on the disc, then an alcahol cleaner solution that get's one drop on the brush...

truth is, anything'll work if it's the eye needing cleaning. just need to clear a thin film of dust...
