Transmission

So when I drive my fx35 it shifts pretty smooth, but when I drive it in the slap-stick mode(not sure what you call it) it shifts a bit jerky. I am the new owner and unsure if this is the norm, or if perhaps I need a tranny flush. IDK, maybe I am just paranoid because of all the transmission problems i had with my volvo xc90. Are there any known issues with the o6 fx35 or software upgrades I should know of?:eek.:

Slap stick mode is usually referred to as sport mode or manual mode here.
At what shift-RPM do you notice this? Is there a possibility of a shift kit installed?

A shift kit is a fancy little mod that affects they way your trans shifts. With the kit, your auto trans shifts are firmer and faster. There would not be a noticable change at low RPM's, but at high RPM's you can feel the trans "punch" into the next gear instead of the soft luxurious transition designed from the factory.
I have not experienced a FX with shift kit first hand (yet), but in another car I have with a shift kit, the shift reacts differently at different RPM's (in a very good way). Sometimes this feel can be associated with a trans going bad. At a mih-high RPM, it would shift harder than needed because of the kit, but at high RPM shifts, it's unmistakeably quick and firm.

The guy has a 1st gen FX.
I'm pretty sure he's talking about the shift between 2nd to 3rd gear.

Also, was it the 06-08 that has rev matching?

Are you talking about the upshifts or the downshifts? When in manual mode, be sure to keep the accelerator depressed when you're upshifting for the smoothest shifts.
