Transmission shifting delay from Drive to Reverse

Hi folks,

I traded my 09' FX35 for a used 11' FX50 in May and I love it. In the last month, I noticed on 3 occasions that there is a considerable longer delay (~4-5 sec longer then normal) when i shift from Drive to Reverse. On first occurrence didn’t do anything as the issue went away after I turned off the car and started it again after my appointment. It seemed to fix the problem, when I did the regular maintenance at the dealer, I have mentioned it to them. They checked the car and if any software updates were available; they could not replicate the issue and couldn’t find any software updates either. A month later, on two consecutive days after about 30-45 min drive (with mostly highway driving and some city rush hour driving), when I was parking the car, the issue reoccurred again and seem to go away after the car is power off and powered on after 30 min. The second time, however, I almost hit the car in front of me when parallel parking the car into a spot.
I dropped the car at the dealer the yesterday. Again, they could not replicate the issue, so I asked them to keep it longer and have somebody from the dealership drive it longer hoping the issue can be replicated. I am waiting to hear from them this morning…….
I am wondering if any of you folks have experienced this issue?
 
Haven't had or heard of that problem shifting into reverse.
 
I have a similar issue on my first gen. It's intermittent, but randomly the transmission takes a few seconds to go from Reverse to Drive or vice versa. It is most noticable when it happens while parallel parking. I can never duplicate it, it just happens once in a while. It happens most when the car is cold, ie. first thing in the morning, but it has happened when the car is warm as well. No codes in the transmission, I've swapped fluid twice and that's in good shape. I also replaced the valve body for a Stillen modified one and it still happens. I thought maybe the valve body would make a difference since that is part of what controls the shifts, but no difference. There is no transmission slip and it shifts fine otherwise. I've learned to just live with it.
 
Possibly that you have not move the shifter all the way into position?
 
I actually thought about that on mine. But even when I made sure to pay attention, it still happened. And on mine at least, it's feels like it's in gear, but taking time to wind up. Hard to explain; but say I'm going in reverse, come to a stop and go to drive. The car revs but feels almost as if the car is in neutral for a moment, but it's moving. So it sort of feels like the transmission is slipping, then it all catches up and goes. Transmission doesn't actually slip while driving nor shifting.

I made sure to check the actuator rod when I swapped the valve bodies to see if there was anything bent that would cause it to not shift properly. It all checked out fine.
 
Wow, I think you're the only 1st Gen I heard of the this problem. Really hope is not a sign of slippage in the trans.
 
I got my car back yesterday and they could not replicate the issue (after the dealer drove it for 200 km - mainly highway). I made sure after the second time to pay attention if i put it in position properly. At the dealer, I was asked if the shifter is sticking or the RPM fluctuates when this happens; The RPM just fluctuate slightly when you move it from Drive to Reverse (i believe it is normal) and the shifter does not stick. After a long drive in heavy traffic yesterday, when i parallel parked, it happened again! Next time, i am just going to bring the car still running on a flat bad to the nearest Infiniti dealership so they can see it, that is the only way i can replicate the issue......It seems that after driving around the city in traffic, the issue seems to be more frequent......
 
i noticed that with mine the other day. took about three seconds. smh. only happens once in a while. not sure what it is
