Transmission re-flash performed yesterday, I was told it was a week old.

OK, so my SA told me that the re-flash they did yesterday was released sometime last week. The paperwork does not shed much light on this as the TSB referenced is old. At any rate, transmission feels good, downshifts feel smoother and I have NO sputter at very low speeds with very little throttle applied! here is the paperwork, hope this helps a bit:

I have had that same tsb addressed like a year and a half ago. I don't know about your dealer but it's been out way longer than just a week. It came out like 2 years ago:

Summary of ITB09032:
IF YOU CONFIRM: An Applied Vehicle has a harsh 4-3 downshift while coasting at 30-20 MPH, with closed throttle condition. NOTE: Engine braking may also be felt under the same driving conditions. ACTIONS: 1. Refer to Step 2 in the SERVICE PROCEDUREto confirm this bulletin applies to the vehicle you are working on. 2. If this bulletin applies, reprogram the TCM. See this bulletin for further detail.

---------- Post added at 01:50 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:44 PM ----------

I had this TSB done and while it helped with the harsh downshifting from 4-3rd, it didn't even help with the high gear selection when coasting and the jerky acceleration in stop and go traffic and annoying throttle lag from the torque converter.

I wanted to keep things simple and not write a novel, but this re-flash has to be fairly new? When I bought the car I have written verification that the "re-flash" for this TSB (4-3 downshift issue) was performed already; under warranty of course.

When my car was in initially on Saturday April 14, the car was checked for the most updated re-flash and my SA confirmed that the latest was already installed and we moved on and ordered the sensors needed for future install.

When I took it in yesterday to have the sensors installed, I asked my SA; just for sh$%# and giggles, have Dan (Service Manager) check again to see if I have the latest tranny re-flash. He called me two hours later and told me that there is actually a newer re-flash that can be performed and they did performed it.

I will call my SA to see if I can get any further details on the re-flash. I have to deliver a couple parts to him anyway, so we will have a chat about this. I am obviously trusting what they are telling me, but I was not complaining about an issue with the tranny, so there was really no reason for them to "appease" me?

I will update with any information of substance when and if I can.

Yeah that TSB is old and I got it a long time ago. Something is not jiving. I got my car back yesterday and they said there was nothing new, yet yours says there is but it's the same TSB # referenced from 1-2 years ago. Makes no sense. I have a hard time believing what any service guy says anymore and have to see it on paper I guess....I don't know.

Thanks for checking into this road racer. It would be nice if Kenny can get to the bottom of this for us since he works at Infiniti, with other executives and can I'm sure get to the bottom of all this confusion that has been on and off for us members for awhile now.

Kenny!!?? :)

I need to find the paperwork of the most updated software. Again, I just bought my 2009 FX50 in January and just wanted to see what updates there were. Maybe the previous client never came in for the update.

I had a brand new 2012 G37 loaner with 290 miles on the clock a month ago and the 7 speed in that thing was worse. In stop and go traffic when you come to a stop, slow down, or do mild braking the car actually slams and it feels like your being hit from behind. Engine braking in stop and go traffic is very "upsetting" in the G37. The jerky gears were worse than the FX lol. Infiniti really needs to hurry up and fix this issue. They keep on adding the 7 speed transmission in all the cars across their line up but they don't want to fix the screwed up software programming.

People who say their 7 speeds aren't jerky, laggy, etc etc don't know what to look out for so they assume it's all normal. Give me their car for a day and I'll show them exactly what I'm talking about. There is about 1,000 posts on these same issues on myg37.com so it's not like I'm imagining things.

i dont have the jerking issue from my 2009 g37x coupe w/ 21k miles or my M37 which i drive every day. even the FX50 I never felt the jerky transmission... not because I work here just because it hasn't happened to me.

is it b/c it has learned my driving habits?

Your tech in service told me on a test drive that a few months ago some engineer from Infiniti was at the dealer and said they are working on some new software, but they weren't sure when it was coming out and that it could be any day.

You just said in another thread you don't drive much.

I don't notice it either really, but if you drive around city a lot after about 1 hour in Drive Sport mode only, you may notice it just every slightly from 4 to 3 or so still. I think when dropping from 60mph.

i noticed it before my reburn the downshift from third to second gear when coming to a stop was more abrupt. after the reburn for the tranny it really smoothed out.

I had a friend who drove on the highway with his 2009 fx35, then come to stop and go traffic and said he hesitated. didn't find that issue with mine at all though.

Called my service advisor today at massepequa and asked about it.

Here is what I have found out:

The transmission reprogram I had done was ITB09032

The transmission reprogram Roadracer516 had done is ITB09032-B

The B must mean a different revision meaning possibly newer? Service advisor said he will get back to me on Wed to confirm.

Fire, please confirm with us when you know! TY

i drove so many g37 loaners 09, 10, 11, 12 and they all had this weird jerk feeling as stated above by Aaron, especially when downshifting and braking at the same time. I actually thought they were built this was, mimicing a sport manual car.
