Transfer Case Malfunction

I heard a weird noise coming from what sounded like the rear of the car last night, so I brought it into the dealer to get it checked out. Turns out a ball bearing in the Transfer case is busted and they gotta order me a new one from Japan. Only problem is the F***ing part is back ordered and will take 2 weeks to get to me. What really grinds my gears (sorry couldn't help myself) is that the FX is 6 months old!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is no point to this really other than to rant

at least you get a free rental car and its a G.
better to find out these things early and have them fix it under warranty. it does suck since the car is still "new".

It sounds like a howling and it starts around 2500rpm and stops at 4000rpm. You would definitely notice something wrong. Get it checked out, under warranty because the shop technician told me that it would be a 2000$ repair

oh no, i kinda hear a howling sound but only when im around 100MPH +. And its feels like its coming from the back. ANd its not always there, just sometimes.

Apparently they are searching the parts depot in Toronto, and they are checking around in the states but the outcome doesn't look very good. In the meantime I got a 2008 G35x from them with 6000 miles on it

I can understand your frustration but at least you were aware enough to have caught it early. You have to expect some teething issues considering you are one of the first to own a brand new gen vehicle. It's part of the deal I guess for the joy of early ownership. Good luck with the fix.

LOL

I called the dealer today, since they promised me the car would be ready today (10 business days), and it turns out the part will arrive in Montreal by Thursday, the 24th, and should be ready by Friday. urgh! The car is brand f**king new!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Got My car back today, the dealer installed my Mags also, and tire pressure monitoring system for the wheels. When I drove it away, it wasn't giving me numbers, but the light was on and the technician told me that sometimes it takes like 20km's (12 miles) before the system calibrates. Now I've driven 50km (30 miles), and nothing. On top of that the light came on, and in Quebec dealers are closed for the weekend. So i spent 350$ on a set of sensors that don't even work!
Does anybody know a way I can calibrate it myself, so I don't have to go see them on Monday?

Not sure on the 2nd gens - but the first gen only the dealer can program them. Why did you have to buy new ones? Why didnt they take the original ones out and put them on the new wheels????

Said they couldn't, but I know it's a load of crap. The dealer wouldn't do the wheels without me buying new sensors, and no local garage wanted to touch the sensors for the 2nd gen
