Tranny problems with 7k miles

I understand what you're going thru. I don't owe a FX50 but I went thru the same thing with my 2009 FX35. Take a look at my thread

The consumer affair rep I had to deal with was reading directly from a script. She didn't do anything to help. It was only after I filed the lemon law claim with GA, that the process started moving. Make sure you have copies of all your service records.

I had to go thru state arbitration before they finally replaced my 2009 with a 2010. The new FX has been great so far. No issues with the transmission what so ever.

I do have the name of someone in Infiniti's corp office in Franklin, TN that may help if you need it. PM if you need any additional info.

Good luck!

Our lawsuit is officially on the way. I can't wait to get out of this piece of **** It's such a shame, because as I've mentioned earlier in this thread, I've always been a huge believer / fan / promoter of Infiniti... we have several in the family still... Oh well, they definitely dropped the ball on the FX50 tranny. The new M (had) the exact same issue, with the exact same tranny... but I guess enough people complained about them for them to act on it. The FX50 is pretty rare from what Ive been told... In fact, Ive only seen 3 others since we picked ours up in Sept '09...

Anyway, it's worse now than it has ever been... the worst part of all of this, is the GM, Service techs, etc telling me it's "normal" - how insulting to my intelligence... totally absurd.

The FX35 has no issues btw... looks like that's what you got, correct?

I will be going to a BMW X6 xDrive 50i next...

Update! Under the lemon law, Infiniti had one "final attempt" to repair the vehicle (9-10th try) First, they replaced the torque converter with a 2011 model with no success. Next, they installed a new transmission! Again, no success. Finally, they offered to buy back the vehicle and refund all of our money. After attorney fees and what they are entitled to take out for mileage (it's an equatio they use) we got out of the vehicle and received $7,500.00... I knew I wasn't crazy! ;)

Just ordered a new Ford Explorer - putting a Twin Turbo in it. Will post pics when I'm done ;) - For the record - I drove every new SUV on the market, and the new Explorer was definitely the best option. Too bad Infiniti treated us like such idiots - we would of Gina back into another FX in a heartbeat, had we not been forced to take the Lemon Law route...

Too bad for you & the trouble they put you through.
But I'd still ride a 50, just a different one

I like the new Explorers as well.. You can really tell that influence from Land Rover when they were under one roof.

Couldn't agree more.....they are growing on me each day....my wife has been wanting the new Jeep, but I've been trying to convince her on the new explorer....we'll see, she is starting to like it more each time too!

Find a wrecked FX50 in the states and buy the tranny used.. if you can't get this resolved by a warranty.. I'm sure there is a tranny out there for you.. if you cant find one in the states find out if you can get one from Japan..
