So i was looking into getting my tranny fluid changed, i can do it myself with no problem. I called infiniti to ask how much a liter and if you disconnect the cooling line to change it, do you go threw 10 liters(so i know how much to buy) The guy didn't know so he asked his mechanic, the machanic told him "we dont do that its to messy and unecessary, just drain the 3 liters out of the pan and replace". thats all.

This dosent sound right at all, and sounds shoty to me. Also i think i totally defeats the purpose of changing the fluid, adding 3 new liters to 7 old liters...better then nothing i guess but still. Whats do you guys think??

that's the recommended procedure

the 3 ltr refresh is the recommended procedure in the manual. considering how testing has shown the addition of new oil to rejuvenate existing oil, and how the transmission oil is both synthetic and not subject to combustion acids, i would say the 3 ltr refresh every 30k is a suitable methodology.

actually, i would also say it is what i am currently doing. have replaced 6 ltrs already, another 3 go out at 90k. no problems with the transmission.
