Hello,
I had the pleasure to track the FX50s yesterday at Calabogie Motorsports Park (near Ottawa, Ontario) and it was an absolute blast! For those of you that are reluctant to try, by all means do so! The FX50S did damn well for a top heavy monster and the soundtrack was insane given the Borla exhaust I have on mine! :) It is something I highly recomend to become better and appreciate your car even more. Now, the only problem is that I want to go back soon! Lol
Below is the track. As you can see, it is 3 miles long and I did all 7 30 minutes sessions with 1 tank of gas (that around 300 miles of driving!). J The 20 turns have tested the Beast and let me tell you you can feel the weight of the car. One of the great feature of the track is that it is so technical so you are always planning the next corners, changing gears and such so your focus is 100% on the track.
I managed to get to over 100 mph on the straight leading to turn 5 and up so 100 mph on the straight leading to turn 1. In comparison, a new Mustang GT500 went around 130 mph on both straights.

Regretfully no, somebody lended me a GoPro but without a suction cup to it kept falling. :( Still I plan to redo it and bring the right tools to film. I will also be less nervous behind the Wheel. lol

Nice! I've thought about trying one out with the Z guys sometime. I think it would be fun to do something with less sharp turns like AutoX has.

Hey Stu, You should definitely do it especially with your AutoX experience. The speeds attained are much higher though so make sure you got some good tires, good brake fluid and very strong pads.

I was gonna ask how the brakes held up? I did a few laps one time and they lasted about 3 Laps before considerable fade set in. This was on my Gen 1 FX with stock fluid, aftermarket slotted and drilled rotors and ceramic pads, so I wasn't expecting much going into it. For your car to do 7 30 minute sessions is very impressive!

That's the one part that worried me. I know a lot of people who go to track days bring extra pads, fluid, stuff like that, or even swap tires. That was the nice thing about AutoX is you could drive out there, run, and drive home with no issues. There was one larger course though that got up to 80-90 on a back straight.

@Tko512iFX: The brakes held up fine but I was Learning the limit of the car as the sessions pilled on. I made mental notes of the angles of entry and the speeds so I could improve every session. That means that the first few sessions were not as stressful as the last ones. Traction control went on only once in 31/2 of driving so the brakes did not wear faster because of that. Remember that you have a heavy car with a higher center of gravity so you really have to be smooth, look ahead of you, plan the next 2-3 turns so the weight transfer will be well handled by the chassis. Make no mistakes, the FX is probably on of the best handling SUV/Crossover but physics will apply at all time. :good:

I did not brink any but if you have all the gear, just bring it in case. We had people bringing their jack, extra fluids and all that to be sure. It is normal because the track is far away so people come prepare and most of them drive their car home. That was also my perspective: to test the car and learn as much as possible but no higher than 8/10 of the limits of the car. It is the last 2/10 that will really tax the car. The FX50 ran strong all day long without a hint of tiring so I went in with a good mindset IMHO.

Make sure you use DOT 4 brake fluid and remember I have the BBK on my car with high friction pads, don't go in a gunfight equipped with a knife! :good:
