TPMS Sensors at Costco

Admittedly I'm a newbie here, but I searched and didn't see anything on this forum. I have an '07 FX 35 and replaced my tires last fall. At the time, the Costco installers told me that one of my TPMS sensors had corroded and needed to be replaced at some point. It never was leaking or anything, but they just recommended getting it fixed as a precaution in case it started leaking in the future. Fast forward to yesterday and I was at Costco for a rotation. I randomly asked the guy if they do TPMS sensor replacements and he tells me that they do (I don't know why they didn't mention this when they told me that I needed to have one of them replaced, but whatever). To cut to the point of the story - they sold me a new sensor for $56 and charged me $14 for installation including the re-learn. $70 in total seemed like a really good deal that I wanted to pass along to anyone else who needs to replace these sensors in the future considering that Infiniti charges significantly more. New sensor is working fine (I tested it at various pressures to see if it was registering correctly).
 
Welcome onboard! Personally, I don't want any Costco or whatever wholesale retailer automotive section touch my car. I'd rather go to a reputable car tuning shop if I wanted to stay away from the dealer. I'd sacrifice a few $ more for peace of mind.

Just my 2 cents.
 
For just tires/TPMS? I'd think Costco should be OK for that, its pretty straightforward. Any other members think otherwise? Thanks for passing along the info.

I've been using Costco for tires since '03 on various vehicles. I have never once been disappointed. Some of the same guys that were there in '03 are still there and all they do is tires. You don't get much more specialized than that. Add to that the price (it's not just a few dollars) and it just makes sense. They are ultra-anal in their policies (tires must meet every OEM spec - size/speed/load, won't install non-RFTs on a car that came with RFTs etc.) to the point of being annoying, but if they carry the tire that you want, it really is a no-brainer.

That all being said, all they carry is Michelin and Bridgestone (maybe BFG, but not sure), so selection is limited. I have the Alenzas on mine and have been happy for the first 10k miles.
 
I guess my opinion is biased. The Costo where I picked up my groceries from are not as sharp as the ones you've described. When I asked them about tires one day, the kid just told me nonchalantly, "that's all what we've got"
