Tpms questions Lorenzo 22's

Hey guys, I had a question about TPMS on an 09 FX35 AWD.

I am about to place an order for the Lorenzo WL32 22x10.5 in +38 OFFSET.

Do I have to worry about TPMS? Is this something that the tire mounting / balancing shop I use will be able to automatically do when mounting the rims to the tires?

Thanks, any input is appreciated!

Hey srtoad4, I posted a reply to you in my other thread about the TPMS problem I ran into. The tire shop couldn't tell there would be a problem until they too the sensors out of my stock wheels and tried to install them. I would ask whoever you buy the wheels from if they are TPMS compatible. Even if they aren't, there are plenty of ways to work around that, you just have to be patient and a little creative. Here's what I did:

"The valve stem holes were a hair too narrow to fit the 11mm socket you need to tighten the TPMS retaining nut (I think that's what it's called). You have 2 options if you run into that with your new wheels. You can either buy the metal bands that mount the TPMS sensors in the center of your wheel and use a standard rubber valve stem (which I wish I had done) or you can do what I did. I ended up buying 10mm retaining nuts from a different sensor and using those. Since they were made for a different sensor they wouldn't tighten properly so I also had to use a small pneumatic grinder to grind down the small lip on the inside of the nut. In hindsight, I would opt for the metal mounting bands. If I didn't know the guys at the shop, the labor would have cost me a lot more than just buying the TPMS straps."

You can chose to swap your current ones to the new wheels. You can also go without them, but you will have the pressure light on in ur dash. There are a few choices for aftermarket TPMS and you'll find them if you search the forum.

Most rims made now are TPMS compatible so they should just be able to swap over your OEM TPMS sensors. This option is preferable over buying aftermarket TPMS or new sensors since you would then have to go to the dealer and have them reprogrammed. If you swap the ones from your car, no reprograming.

Awesome, I found a few online sellers of the wheels and they list them as being TPMS compatible.

Order placed, can't wait to get them in!

I wouldnt swap they can break off when trying to remove from the stock wheels. A new set is best imho. Bought a set of compatible ones for around $100 & they worked perfect. Got them reprogrammed at the nissan dealer for free in less then 5 minutes.

Sent from my SPH-L710 2

Unfortunately, not all dealers will reprogram for free. The Infiniti dealer here wanted $100 and then they couldn't even do it. 2 of the sensors wouldn't register. On previous cars, I always had them swapped with no issues.
