TPMS Again

I went to the dealership today to get my seat belt cleaned to fix the slow retraction problems.

I has asked the service manager regarding to the pricing for TPMS programming. Surprisingly, he told me to try the following, which should work for most of the Infiniti vehicle.

- Turn your car to "ON" state with all the lights showing on your dashboard without firing th engine
- Adjust your tire pressure on each of the wheel to trigger your TPMS. Then wait for 5 ~ 10 mins.
- Fire your car and drive it. Your computer should auto register the TPMS into your vehicle.

Since my new set of wheels are not here yet, I can't test it. But I think it won't hurt to try it out, since that was told by a service manager who is in good mood and try to help me to save $60 down the road. :.smile:

I would assume this would only "trigger" a set of TPMS that is already programmed to your FX. A brand new set that you are swapping in still needs to be added via CONSULT.

However, if this is a new method for programming that we never knew about then Woohoo!!!

I think you trigger the TPMS by adjusting the tire pressure, the with the car at the "ON" mode, the car should start scanning for TPMS signal.

That is what the service manager has told me about. Since I don't have a new set of rims, I can't really try it.

found this on: the370z.com

Step 1: Set the tires to the following pressures, they have to be exact:

Tire position Tire pressure kPa (kg/cm2, psi)
Front LH 240 (2.4, 34)
Front RH 220 (2.2, 31)
Rear RH 200 (2.0, 29)
Rear LH 180 (1.8, 26)

Step 2: Locate the TPMS interface plug. This is a white female plug that is attached to the OBD II wire loom under the dash right about where your left knee would be when sitting in the driver's seat. You may have to cut the tape that is holding the TPMS interface plug to the OBD II wire loom.

Step 3: Attach a paper clip or wire into the interface plug.

Step 4: Put your key in the ignition and turn it to the last click before the engine starts. This is the KOEO position (Key On, Engine Off).

Step 5: Tap the end of the paper clip (the end NOT in the interface plug, duh!) on any exposed ground (metal) 6 times.

Step 6: If you completed step 5 then the TPMS warning light will start to slowly flash and you have activated the TPMS relearn process. If it flashes fast that's not right. If yours isn't flashing slowly then check your connections, turn the ignition off and start over at step 4.

Step 7: Once you confirm the lights do not stop flashing, step on the clutch/brake and start the car. Do not turn the car to OFF position. Start driving >25mph until the light goes out. It could take as long as ten minutes.

Step 8: The light will quickly come back on due to the low tire pressures. Refill your tires to the correct pressure.
