I was thinking about winter and thought I would check and see how my towing hook would work on my newly acquired FX45. I found it very difficult to remove the plastic cover that is over the towing hook mount. It is perfectly centered on part of the lower bumper. There are openings on either side and it should have been moved to the right of the left to make it usable. Has anyone else found this on their FX? This either a poor design or mine was built wrong. Please comment:mad.: I will post photo in my garage.

Yep, that's where it is. Some prefer it centered, some prefer it off to the side. Other than wrestling the cover off, is there another problem with it or why is it not usable? I've never assembled it.

Welcome to iS, by the way!

the tow hook is part of the bumper reinforcement so it's can't be in the wrong spot, it can only go in one place... it winds up falling behind the licence plate bracket... you may need to remove the licence plate bracket to use it... this really isn't designed so much to be a usable tow hook, it's more of a way to tie the vehicle down as it's transported here by boat & then in most cases it's covered up & never used again, but it is usable or at least should be...

Last year we had a blizzard and my son pulled me out of some snow using his front wheel drive Nissan that had hook ring build into it. That is what made me think I could use this hook for or if I ever break down I would not trust the tow truck driver to know where to hook up at to get the car on the flat bed. I wanted to know how to use it. Now I know it is not easy to use. You have to pull up on the bumper cover to get it uncovered and push the bumper cover aside to get the hook into the threaded hole

well there is a threaded eye thing in the tool kit in the back of the fx trunk with all the spare tire stuff, that's what you should screw into the threaded hole & then hook whatever to the eye... it is a straight extension & shouldn't be too hard to get to thread in there to stick out past the bumper... is that what you are using? you mention a hook not sure if your talking about this threaded eye thing though...
