Seems that at the 626 big meet last month some of the members and i noticed that the one of the front right tower bolts holding the strut bar would turn, but wouldn't come off. I'm wondering if there are any problems, or if anybody knows as to why it wont come off to give some inputs on this issue. Also, when installing new springs would the shop have to take those tower parts off to take out the old springs and put in with new ones?

yes they need to remove the struts. those bolts hold the struts to the top of the tower.
Not sure how it can come off w/o replacing the bolt. may need to replace bolt if a vise grip is used:err: to remove that bolt.

I think the shop that will do your springs can handle it.

BTW

My theory on why the bolt spins is this.

when the STB was installed, the strut tower bolts were OVER torqued. I think the bolts are pressed into the upper STB spring mount (terminology?)

sounds like it's stripped. replacing the strut mount will solve this, either that or get creative & try to repair it by drilling it out & tacking a new stud in... I'd worry about the condition of the other bolts if this one is that bad... if there pretty chewed up should replace the strut mounts when you replace the springs...

It shouldn't be hard to fix. When my front springs were installed, I forgot to take off the STB prior and they stripped one bolt during install, so one of my bolts looks a little different. No biggy.
