Hey All..

My name is Chip and I am obviously new on here. I have been on many boards before and a total car buff. If you are from Michigan you might have seen me around town. I have the Imola Yellow Audi RS4- With many miles on the Audi its time to pick up something more practical/fun. I want to do the GTR but with projects afoot!! I need a little more practical/fun ride thats a blast in the winter heading up to ski and such.. So for the time Being I am going to look at a mildly used FX50. I really like the Silver and Darker silver colors alos the White and Black - Pardon my inexperience in Paint naming for Infinitys. I am not quite there yet. if anyone has any good recommendations on models I would appreciate the help. I would like the FX50 S - Navi and some goodies.. Prob sport package.

Questions to start:
Is the active suspension (when adding H/R Springs) Affected?
What is the typ Wheel size? are they above 20"
Gas mileage? lol dont care The Audi is equally as crappy.
Mods? Are there any forged internals on the FX50?
What is the peak HP that this engine can handle for Daily play?
Good Mod sites?

In addition - I like some of the body kits I have seen on your rides.. Very nice.
So far you all have really good taste in building these Infinitys.. Looking forward to
assembling my own.

Great saying hello.. And one lase question

Any local Infinity guys that get together?

Later!

Chip

Hi Chip, a fellow member lives in Michigan with an FX50 and he loves it, he could answer many of your questions, his handle is jdtrader

Oh, and you will get slammed :wink (2): it is spelled INFINITI with no Y

Welcome to the Scene. The off the shelf mods for the 2nd gens are very limiting. Most would have to he one-off customs by you. There is a supercharger kit for sale in the classifieds that can be modded for awd if you like. The FX50 has nice power a and comes stock with 21" wheels. I wouldn't mess with the adaptive suspension by using coils. Gas mileage is decent for a large car, around 16-17 combined.

Welcome to the Scene! The 50 won't leave you with a lot of satisfaction when it comes to bolt on/off the shelf mods. Unless you are looking to be a pioneer and willing to drop $$$. You'll enjoy what the FX offers out of the box if taking into consideration the size and weight of the platform. Hands down, it will be one of the best melds of comfort, performance, and utility.

Good luck with your search!

Welcome to :iS:

If and when you get your FX50s contact Rick@PerryInfiniti on here for some pricing on the front body kit AKA the front lip spoiler.

Welcome. Can't find the white paper on the VK50VE, but this will have to do for now...

5.0-liter (5,026 cc) 32-valve V8, aluminum-alloy block and heads
Double overhead camshaft (DOHC), 4 valves per cylinder with microfinished camshafts. Steel intake and exhaust valves. Continuously Variable Valve Timing Control System (CVTCS) optimizes opening of intake and exhaust valves. Variable Valve Event and Lift (VVEL®) for intake valves improves performance, emissions and fuel efficiency

The VK50VE is a 5.0 L V8 engine with 390 hp @6500 rpm and 500 N·m (370 lb·ft) @4400 rpm and redline is at 6800 rpm. Bore x stroke (mm) are 95.5 x 87.7 and compression ratio is 10.9:1. It has Nissans VVEL technology.
