Torque Converter Lock-Up

Location
Alaska
I live a couple of blocks away from a 55 mph road. What I'm kind of scratching my head over is the fact that the torque converter doesn't lock up until I'm about 5 miles down the road. Is the FX35 tranny programmed to withhold torque converter lock up until the tranny is up to a certain temperature? Thanks, William

TQ Lockup

At that point on the road I've usually set the cruise control because I don't hit a traffic light for 10 miles. When the torque converter locks up the tach will drop a few hundred rpm. You can also feel it under steady throttle even with the tranny shifting as smooth as it does. The whole thing isn't a big deal but inquiring minds like to know. Regards, William
