Torn between 35 & 50, any advice?

Gents,

 First of all, Hi from Saudi Arabia.

 I am currently in the market for a crossover and after an extensive research I landed on the FX and now I am torn between the 35 & 50 (2009 of course)

 This is my first time buying a car (at least a real one) so I am ok to spend (my own hard earned money) as much as the FX50S requires but however I am conscious of the following:
 1- I am looking for the least road noise and from what I found as tire size go up the noise also do too, is this correct? What we here in KSA have are the FX35 with 20 inch tires and the FX50S with 21 inch both AWD and that is it?

ok FX50S and 35 I found about the same ride quality but in sport more the FX can be a little stiffer. the rear entertainment screen is not too big for the space. the view out the back is not great anyway but unless you have it down no view obstruction. Ipod vids can be played throught the AUX ports in the FX but only while parked and the e-break on for the front screen.( this can be by-passed with some simple wireing and 2 switches.) Road noise was not an issue I have with my FX50S. The 21" tires get a bit more pricey to buy but not an issue i was worried about. Right now the 35 Engine is easyer to MOd if you are into that the 50 is a new design and mods have been slow to come out. either way the 35 and 50 are both great. I wanted the 50 for more power and to get the top of the line. but that was a personel choise and the 35 is still sex on wheels.

thanks for your input but what about engine sound? is it different between the 35 & the 50? I really want something that sounds great? but on the other hand I don't want to waste $15,000 for an engine that makes the same noise. and by the way I am not into MODs but I can do something like the iPod thingy.

I'll wait and see what the others think. but thank. really appreciated :tup:
 
sounds deeper but it is pretty mild. I had the muffler completly off when I was installing my trailer hitch. That made it sound good. Not loud at all. wife loiiked the sound and it was not as loud as my G37S with HFC's and a catback. You will nodice the sound differens between the 2 but If sound is what you want get a muffler shop to remove the muffler and ad some pipes and tips. the sound is not anoying loud. still bairly noticable in the cabin but sounds really nice out side. the 4 HFC's and resonators on this thing still will keep it from just being an anoying loud exhaust.


If Fast intentions dose not make a Catback for this by the end of the year I am going to custome make an exhaust for it.
 
I have a 09 FX35 and if it was in my financials means, I would have definitely purchased the FX50s.

I love my 35 but would have definitely liked to have the 390hp engine! I have rear active stear (which comes in the FX50s) in the 06 G35 coupe and love it! The adjustable suspension should give a nice sporty ride as well.

Get the 50s!
 
You can't go wrong with the FX50S! Also, tire brand and quality has more to do with road noise then the size of the tire.

and as I said I don't have the luxury of test driving so I am going to take your words for it.

I think am going with the 50S. I'll let you know as soon as I get it.

quick update:

I just got a call from Infinity saying we are more than happy to provide you with a test drive :tup: (I guess all those online request got their attention).

by the way, is there a 2010 model coming soon? because if there is I will wait to get it even if it has the same look.
 
My G37s with HFC's and cat back is faster than my FX50S. I was surprised but took it out wife was driving the G me the FX50 and she pulled on me thewhols way on the on ramp.
 
Since you said you were not into modding.... the fx50s would be your best choice. A RWD 35 would be my first choice since I love modding and the VQ35HR engine can handle 500hp without being built. ///72575&postcount=3

thanks for your input. FX has really grown into me for the last couple of weeks and I am going for the 50S I guess. I'll let you know after the promised test drive (hopefully)
