took the car over to cheryl at metro... gave them my list of complaints and they countered my offer:frown:

they will replace the door rubber trim under warranty but they wont fix the drivers side seat (torn leather in the pleather side) tie

they are replacing my oil cooler under warranty as its developed a leak (didnt even know that was an issue:embarrassed:) point to ashley

i need new rear brakes as im down to 2mm ($380) point to dealer

my belts are squeeky due to old age and cracks ($150) point to dealer

throttle body service (do i need this?) (180$) point to dealer

60k mile tune up (im at 80K:embarrassed:) (650$) point to dealer

and lastly both my plastic linings in the front fenders are falling off (my fault.. popped the 3m sticky and plastic bolts swapping headlights last summer)
$450:mad::mad::mad:
so all in all its just shy of $2,000... hefty chunk considering i just wanted to get free stuff fixed

main question is... is this all necessary? is anything to expensive/ over the top??
and why do they cover the door trim but not my seats?:mad:
im into the extended warranty with 14k miles left on it

on the plus side....
can you say 2009 g37 sedan loaner
HOTT!!! if you see a blue blur flying through hollywood later... thats me...

First I would go to Nissan, almost always cheaper than Infiniti, in my case it was $500 cheaper for 60K maintenance. Infiniti wanted $1300, but Nissan charged me $746. That price from Nissan included things like throttle body check and belts. Also the plastic linings, should be able to be done a lot cheaper than $450.

Good lord that's expensive....

I can get the brakes done at a local mechanic for $100 labor and I supply part $50. So that's $150.

I'll probably mess with the belts myself....

Throttle body service? All I know is that I never had this done on any of my cars... Is it really necessary?

What in the world is included in the $650 service?! Most likely a tranny flush. I did the math on this and it would cost around 190 at a local shop at can flush the tranny. I wonder how much of the $650 includes tranny flush. $650 probably includes cabin filter change, air filter change, and oil change. You probably have an intake so air filter won't be necessary. You can buy your own carbon cabin filter for $40 bucks through riverside infiniti and install it your self. This should save you good $50. Lastly, it'll probably include 20 line items to inspect this and that.. I say you pick and choose what you need done.

SOOO Expensive! I did my front brakes today and it took easily less than an hour. $50 for pads, cut the rotors myself, but you might pay $25 to have them done.
I can't imagine what a tune up would be: Plugs, fuel filter, air filter, cabin filter. Oil change maybe? What else for over $600?

You almost never want to get non-warranty stuff done at the dealer. Most of this stuff can be done by a regular mechanic.

Cheryl told me that your seat would have been covered under Manufacturer's warranty but not under Extended warranty. Maybe you can swap it with someone and they can get it done under warranty for you?

new rear brake pads -- just go to midas. Should run you around $150 or less if it's just pads. midas also runs a lifetime warranty and replacement if you go with their brand.

Belts -- $150 is fine. Once again, a local shop can do this for cheaper probably $100.

Throttle body service -- don't get this done. You can do this with a $3 can of throttle body cleaner. If not, go to the local mechanic and ask them to clean your throttle body. You can go to autozone and buy a $3 can that says "throttle body cleaner"

plastic liner for front fender, in the holes, I would use zip ties... definitely not worth $450 to fix.

I'd fix the throttle body and front fender for you if you were near, maybe you can do it yourself or find a friend that is handy?

Brakes - you or your bf can do those.
60K tune - if you just do the required your good. dont need all that inspection stuff.
Throttle body - i think theres a thread on how to do it here......all i remember is that you need to be super duper gentle on the it, so it doesnt throw a code.

im sucking it up and doing as...
A they gimme a loaner
B its all done in one place and i dont have to go here and there to get it taken care of
C 12 hour workdays m-f make it a lil hard to drop it off anywhere
D im outta town the next 5 weekends
oh well... small price to pay to drive an FX
thanks for all your input gentlemen

also Metro (Cheryl) is very good about helping us members with warranty repairs. Also we have to "give" back by doing some non-warranty stuff with them to keeps things fair, :)

glad they are taking care of the FX for you. just think of the money you saved (oil cooler, moldings...)

glad to hear you are doing all they suggested, ... pick up the FX after the weekend:wink:
