To those who painted their grills on their own.

I have been running my Duplicolor Acrylic Enamel painted grill for a couple weeks now, and already have some SERIOUS chips from rocks and what not. I was wondering what other people have used to paint their grills themselves, and how it held up over time. Will a lacquer be more durable and resistant to chips?

how good did you strip off the chrome? I used duplicolor as well and I have chips all over as well but I was blaming the shortcut I took on sanding.. I basically sanded off with 200 grit which just strips off a thin layer I think..

there is still quite a bit of chrome left. i did 100 grit, then 150, the adhesion promoter, then primed, then 400, primed, 400, primed, 400, then 3-4 coats of gloss black and another 3-4 of clear.
