I looking at Tire rack for some wheels and tires I noticed that they force you to purchase a ATEQ TPM Quickset Reset tool if you purchase new TMPS valves.
Does anyone have any experience with this tool, and is the $140 for the tool cheaper than having the TPMS reset by the dealer?

Thanks

I wish a $140 tool would allow us to reset our tpms, but this is not aplicable for us.. a tool that costs at least $1,500 is required, or a consult II which is even way more expensive... there is no cost effective way of doing it yourself, I've already spend hundreds on different things trying to that don't work...

+1

Infiniti/Nissan require consult II.

John, I think there might be a solution. They are coming out (or possibly already out), with TPMS sensors that you can change the code or something. So let's say you have two sets (1 winter, 1 summer). With one set already paired to the car, you take each sensor and copy each code and "paste" that same code into the other set. Therefore, when you switch, it will pick up the other TPMS without having to re-code.

Either way, I wait for a $29.99 rotation coupon and go get that done and also ask to make sure they sync the TPMS to the right wheel...

duping sensor id's would be sweet... any more info on where you seen that? I'm also really loving my aftermarket tpms setup that I used on my other car, has a dedicated display, is user programable in many ways including threasholds & warning points, & reads temp as well as psi, also, it works as soon as you turn the ign on instead of waiting for rotation to activate it... really sweet setup, been thinking of switching everything over to this in the fx just to make wheel swaps a breeze.. oh also it can handle more than 4 sensors, so you can monitor the spare too:smile:

Yeah, the technology of our OEM are old school, the new ones send so much more information like the temps etc.. as you said.

My wheel/tire guy goes to those conventions and said they had one they were demoing and he was laughing because dealers can no longer charge $80 or whatever per sensor after this floods the market. He already spent a ton of money on new tire mounters that can handle pretty much anything and run-flats with no scratches and roadforce balancers.

Next time I go I'll ask him about more info.
