tire size

Hello there, welcome to the scene. The answer to your question really depends on whether you want to keep the overall diameter the same as stock or if you're just interested in stuffing the biggest tire possible. The latter would affect your speedo readings.

Widest tire or biggest diameter? Very different things.

He specifically said "Biggest tire on 18" rim" and same on the 20" so he's not talking about biggest diameters.

OP.

Seems that anything "bigger" you put on there will change the rolling diameter and it will change the speedo rating. I am not sure what you are trying to accomplish with this, I find that stock size tires are more than enough for stock wheels

Well his question is really, really vague. Stock size on 18" and stock size on 20" have effectively the same diameter. You can go bigger in diameter on both, wider on both, the wheel size has no relevance since both 18" and 20" OEM wheels are 8" wide.

Hello guys, thank you all for your trying to find a right answer on my question,i will try to explain more clear,i have 18'' stock rims with 265/60/18 i would like to have wider and also bigger tires in diameter . I have found a size 285/65/18 i allready checked this size on a tire calculater, i understand that it will be different speedo reading-this is no problem i can managed it in in my ride, the more important think for me - will this tire size 285/65/18 fit to wheelwell and can be any problem if i will go with this size,if you know that this size is not good by any reason-what the biggest and widest size tire can i put on my 18'' stock rims with no worry.thank you for your help.

The tire calculator should also indicate how much more or less room you have in the wheel wells compared to stock. Just go under the car and measure how much room you have between tire and suspension components and also between tire and fender.

It will fit, you're not going to rub at stock height. But the bulge will be hideous running a 285 on an 8" wheel and you're right on the edge of the limits for tire to wheel size. The question is, why would you want to run a 285/65 tire on the 18? It's going to be squirmy because the tire is so wide on a narrow wheel and it will look horrible. It's also going to be 2" bigger in diameter than stock.
