we all know the stock bridgestone tires are garbage, and the 265 45 21 produces high priced tires.

i can get some 275 45 21 michelins for 260$ a piece, but the tire shop said these can blow the transmission and that he has seen it happen.

I've read topics where we can fit up to 295 wide tires on our vehicles without fitment issues, but, the consensus from the tire shop is the traction monitoring system gets screwed up since the wider tire provides more grip and screws with the drive train system and eventually causes excessive transmission ware and damage.

anyone go wider and have transmission issues? i need new tires now at 35000 but I'm trying to get through the summer before replacing them.

Too much traction? It's AWD. It can't be the width that's the issue (265 to 275), but instead the % of the width which is what makes up the sidewall size (45). You can find tire diameter calculators that will tell you how much the diameter will change between the 2. It can't be much, maybe a tenth of an inch and if that's enough to blow the transmission, you better not let the tread of any tire wear to much. This guy has got to be FULL OF :poop::tdown:. If all this is true and I'm the schmuck, I'd trade that thing in for something else cuz that's nutz.

The guy doesn't know what he's talking about... We've had guys go smaller tires, and guys go huge offroad tires... No issues with the transmission unless you go TT and push over 400+ HP at the wheels... That's when the transmissions start to shred... Well, more like 600 HP at the wheels, but you get the idea... For a baseline, unmodded AWD FX's put down about 200-25 HP at the wheels depending on the dyno you use...
