Hey Guys!

I searched for previous posts related to this question, but could not find a definitive answer.

I got a great deal on some 22X9.5 wheels with 35mm offset. I already have H&R springs that are waiting to be installed. So. Here are my questions:

1) Taking the lowered stance into consideration, what is the widest tire size that I can go with? I've seen 265/40/22 as being close to stock tire height, but is that enough lip protection?
2) What is the widest tire I can go with, without rubbing, or having to shave fenders?

Your thoughts and suggestions please!

Thanks!

285/35/22 will be a perfect fit but might not satisfy your width needs. I believe Dave uses 305/35/22 size in 22x9.5 rims but it creates some good side bulge. Also, wider tires will give you more rim protection horizontally (ie, protection form curb rash) and larger sidewalls will give you more protection vertically (ie, protection from bent rims). IMO, if you're going for 22s, don't go anything narrower than 285 size. 265s look skinny in 22" rims.

I'm actually running a 9, & oversized over a suggested max. Cant complain, as the rubber was already on there from a prior ride. I may size down to a 285 when it comes time, although I do love the wider stance & bulge makes up for the conservative sided offset.. Handling & stability have been to my surprise quite excellent.
It also has a lot to do with the tires that are fitted. The Scorpions have a nice stiff sidewall & are probably the best tires available . . but they do come at a premium price.
