Tire size and brand recommendation for 22" wheels

So I ordered my 22 x 10.5 offset +32 Forgestar F14 . I've been searching the forums and I wanted some help getting the right size tire. It seems I can go a lot of ways with the sizing depending on the wheel size and offset.
I was thinking 285/40R22 but it seems a lot of members are doing 285/35R22. I wanted a little more comfort over the profile.
I had 285/40R22 on my 1st gen FX and to me felt the profile was acceptable. I've also seen 275/35, 275/40, 265/40. What do you guys recommend for this size tire?
Leaning toward comfort and ride quality first then handling and appearance.

Anyone ? Little help on tires:bulgy-eyes:

I would go with 285/35 but that's a personal opinion. Thats the tire size I'm running on a lowered 10/10.5 staggered setup. If you are not lowering and want better ride quality go with 285/40.

I am guessing 295 or 305 is to big and will rub ? How about brands. I've had the Yoko Parada Spec-X and hate them! on 2 diffrent FX they just wear out way to fast and get very loud.

I have the Yoko's now and the Hankooks before.

Hard to do a direct comparison because I went from 20's to 22's at the same time I changed the tires, but I think I liked the Hankooks more.

I think the kooks might be discontinued though, so finding a set might be harder.

I have the parada's as do many other members on here and I love them but they are discontinued I think as well.

The Yokohama Parada Spec-X 285/40R22 still shows up when shopping tirerack and discount tire.
I guess everyone has a diffrent opion on tires. But for almost $1K for set of 4 tires I expect them to last a bit longer. I think my last set lasted 20-30K miles and when the tread got low the tires pulled in ton of directions.
Had Vibration issues on 2 diffrent set of wheels across 2 diffrent FX. Maybe I am bitter but I am definetly passing on these unless they are 50% off price or something.

Added a short list of tires I could find online. Have never heard of some of these. Pricing on Achilles, Nanking and Lexani looks really nice.

Achilles Desert Hawk UHP
Falken Ziex S-TZ05
Nitto NT420S
Toyo Proxes S-T II
Yokohama Parada Spec-X
Nankang SP-7
Lexani LX-TWENTY
Lionhart LH-Five

I think my next tire might be the Nitto 420s. There's a lot of good reviews on them.

I wouldn't go with Achilles, lionhart, Nankang or lexani. All crappy tires. Andy (La_fx35) had the nitto 420s and hated those tires.

I ran Nankangs on my 22"s. They worked well for the price. Not loud and treadlife was decent.

FWIW, don't get anything narrower than a 285 unless you want it to look stretched. Get 285/35, it's still a lot of sidewall.

How was the ride quality going from 50 to 35 ? I know I went to 40 on my last set of 22 and was bit bumpier but not bad. Also added a bit more cushion for the wheels in case you hit a pot hole.

I actually went from the stock 18"s to 22"s so it was a big change. But the ride wasn't as rough as I had anticipated. You definitely feel the road more and small bump absorption is worse, but I didn't mind. I personally felt a bigger change swapping to coilovers.

I used to run a staggered 22" setup and had 265/40 in front and in rear ran several sizes 285/35, 295/35, and 305/35. There's about 1/2" difference in sidewall from 35 to 40 series tires which isn't a ton. I think tire brand/type will impact your ride more.

I now run 275/40/20 all around and the ride is about the same as when I had 22"s.

If I go 285/35R22 I could get the Nexen Tires Roadian HP Suv for around $600 set. They don't appear to be made in theb 285/40. Hmmm I kind of wanted that extra padding to fill in the gap. Wasn't planning on lowering.

I think that's the tires that FXmonkey has. You should pm him and see how he likes them. I would get the Nexens over the nankangs for sure.

That is right I did ask him in the F14 wheels post I have. He said (Quoting FXMonkey) "the nexens are great so far but moving from a 50 to a 35 tire made a big difference in ride quality. i wouldve gone 285/40 if i wasnt lowering and the 40s look too beefy imo. at stock height the wheels in the back are exactly flush and in the front they poke out a tad bit. its hard to even tell at stock height"

His response about the 35 profile is what is pushing me to want the 285/40 and the fact that I probably won't lower.

35 series tires have good ride comfort. Don't be afraid to do it. Lowering springs or coils also improve the ride IMO. Takes out the bounce of the jacked up stock height. It might seem like you're going for rough ride with these mods, but when I switched, I was surprised by how compliant and lux the suspension felt with those mods

I am keeping my options open for both but leaning toward 40's The size does not bother me and not planning on lowering.

Here is something intresting though the Nanking is UTQG: 420 Traction AA A
All the other tires I listed are just A. Must have pretty good traction ?

Adding my comparison sheet. Most of the info should be accurate.
Leaning toward Falken or Nankang for 40's or Nexxan for 35

I can't help much on the size, but I will say this! I have ran both the Hankook's and the Yoko's (which is what is currently on my car). IMHO the kooks are a FAR better tire in regards to performance, quietness and look a hell of allot better! With the kooks I felt allot more confident when hitting the twisties hard over the Yoko's. The Kooks I could not even make them squeal regardless of how hard I cornered, the Yoko's take little to no effort to squeal around the corners. My ONLY complaint with the Kooks is they seemed allot harder to balance! As far as pricing, go to discount tires direct, ask for Wyatt and he will fix you up! You CANNOT beat their prices as they offer free shipping and in most cases they will be on your doorstep in 2 days. Also they offer a no BS replacement warranty that replaces blowouts, etc. unlike tire rack and the others, with discount you do not have to send the old tire back and argue about tread depth and all that crap. Simply call them, they run your credit card for $20.00 for the replacement warranty on your new tire and it's on your doorstep in 2 days. I am no way affiliated with Discount tire but I will not buy tires anywhere else! Good luck!
