tire armorall can you just put clear coat on the tires?

hey just wanted to know i just seen an explorer that had
painted his tires with a clear coat itkinda looked like armor alls.
but he did a bad job some of it was smudgy....
has anyone tried this is this hazardous?
bad economy didn't wat to spend 3 extra on armorall

I feel like it would crack when the tire flexes and stuff. Also, it would be easy to mess up if you run into a curb, even when just pulling forward into a parking spot.
 
I can't speak for clear, but its not uncommon for "big rigs" or "18 wheelers" to paint their tires glossy black. The paint wears off before it cracks. However, imo, that look would be "over the top" on a FX or any other SUV.
 
I used Gel on my stock Yokohama's and had actual rubber come off the tire. Have switched recently different spray.
Probably not rubber, probably just dust that stuck from previous tire shine. It's best to clean the tires off before applying new tire shine. I usually rub them down with my wash bucket water and a stiff brush.
 
dont use any of that greasy gelly crap all it does it make the dirt soak into the rubber and it stays dirty
