Tinted Tail Lights iin New York City?

hammer,

what a coincidence, i just pm'd someone about this yesterday too! Basically what turbo told me was "if you tint your rear bright red tailights to a darker deeper red, but do not make them dark enough that your significantly reducing the amount of light they put out, then you will have no problem."

John, i hope you dont mind me using your exact words!

that's funny, cause I was just copying my reply to you to post it here, since I copied it anyway, here it is  :

if you tint your rear bright red tailights to a darker deeper red, but do not make them dark enough that your significantly reducing the amount of light they put out, then you will have no problem. the problem is most spray tints are going to need a few coats to get an even look, & at that point there just too dark. if a cop sees a kid drive by at night & his tailights are stupidly dim, he's going to pull him over & harass him & maybe rightly so, but if at night they look no different than any other normal car you should have no issue. I've seen some of these g & z kids with tailights so dark that there brake lights are dimmer than average tailights... that's an accident waiting to happen & the cops are going to always bust chops for that...

If you get pulled over-Do what I did when I got pulled over-Say it was a sport model package and they have darker tail lights. The cop won't know the difference-worked for me:)
