Now i have heard about this from a guy who drove a F/I engine and had it rebuild after he bew his engine. But i posted this issue on this topic as i don't think this is relaed to F/I or N/A.
It seems that when you are going for stronger valve springs as i am going to do with my engine projekt, you will get in trouble with timing chain guide and tensioners as due to the stronger spring rate of the valve springs the cams will need more force to turn round.....asking more strenght from the timing components and it seems that the hydrolic tensioners are too weak and cannot handle this. Result you will hear a ticking noise.
A company where he went to solved this for him using different springs somehwere in the timing system and increased the oil channels and such.
I know this sounds vage but it is the best i could make of the story i heared. The company in question will not give free that intell easy as they will say just bring it by......thing is we all had issues with them so that is no solution. Unfortunalty further not much knowledge of the VQ engine here in the netherlands.
