Throttle Body Cleaning (High Idle)

I love this forum because of the wealth of info from searching...

I recently did a spark plug change and noticed that the TB was dirty. I was experiencing high idle so I found this thread and followed the directions.
I must have did the pedal dance 10 times and the high ideal persisted. After checking the clamps and hoses I found the culprit, the gromet for the vacuum hose under intake tube was cracked. I just went and picked up a PVC gromet from auto parts store and replaced it. Performed the throttle learn and now idle is back to normal.

So I just want to add to this thread to check for vacuum leaks before doing the throttle learn.

FX feels like a new car after spark plug and Tb cleaning.

Working fine now, no more code(P0507) .... idle is nice & low.

Found this on nissanhelp

I think the main difference is driving the vehicle around to reach operating temps, when I did it originally I would just warm it up in the garage. I drove it around for 5 minutes (not 15) and redid the above procedure. Works perfectly if done right, I actually did it on the first try using the cd player as a clock.

also make sure you clear any codes before or after performing the above procedure. (I cleared the P0507 code after I got the idle right).

yes i have done the same and worked perfectly in 2nd try.

Already my engine was hot.
  1. turned ignition on wait 3 sec.
  2. Start pressing and releasing accelerator pedal for 5 times in 5sec. finally release the pedal
  3. then wait for 7 sec.
  4. now fully press the pedal and wait around 20sec. this time you can see the MIL light will be blinking and finally will turn on.
  5. now release the pedal wait 2 sec. now start the Engine.
  6. you are done.....

Does anyone know how much a consult should cost? Installed a plenum spacer today, and getting high idles. Tried the throttle learning procedures but couldn't get the timing right. I'm going to try again in the morning. If I cant get the steps right I'm thinking of getting the consult performed from the dealership.

Update: I tried doing the reset procedure again just a little while ago...and it worked!! Idle rpm is now down below 1k, at the mark right before the 1k line (what rpm is that btw, 650?)

Idle is now nice and smooth, and quiet.

You guys are the best! it took me about 5 tries to get my timing right but finally I did and this work like a charm. Thank you guys.

It works!

I tried 10+ times, then used a clock to time it which worked the second try.

All i have to say is thank you all, I freaked out after I changed plugs and cleaned the maf sensor and throttle body and the idle was nuts, you all are life savers did the reset sequence and back to normal and running like new! Thank you guys!

i got mine fixed just by unplugging the battery and throttle body leave over night, and Perform "Accelerator Pedal Released Position Learning" Perform "Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning" idle is nice and low now , didn't even have do the idle air volume learning procedure. every thing is working perfectly now.
Reviving an old one. Your previous post in this thread says you got it to reset to 650 several times, but then the next time you started it went back up. That's currently my issue. I will try this next thing you did to see if it helps. Just as proof...I was about 1100 before the three phase procedure. Here it is after (before restarting). I removed TB for driver side cam sensor replacement. I'm considering plenum spacer since I need to get tune-up and valve covers done. tach.jpg

So Mr. Corona gave me some time to get some other work done. I did valve covers (and plugs). Put it all back together. Runs great, idle has reset. Needed the work, but perhaps the idle corrected just from battery being disconnected for a while. Didn't have to do relearn again or anything.
