I've been contemplating about buying the extended warranty for up to 8 years/120,000 miles with another 4 years of roadside assistance, lodging, etc etc. But I'm not too sure if it's worth it or not. I was told the warranty I'm wanting is like $2500+, something like that. I have no problem paying for it, I was just wondering if it's worth it or not.

So far the car has been nothing but reliable, but then again it's only a year old with 30K miles. And last time I checked Infiniti's were pretty bullet proof machines. But it's always better to be safe than sorry right? lol

Anyone pay for an extended warranty on here?:tonguey:

I have an 07 fx. I purchased the extended warranty for peace of mind. Covers everything.

imho the general idea would be to buy extended warranty when the standard warranty is about to expire. if you can find a third party company that has a good reputation then go for it otherwise buy it directly from Infiniti. i have had problems with these kinda companies. it's well worth it since your car is new.

Thanks for the info guys.

I never thought about waiting till the warranty is almost up, then buying the protection plan. It makes sense to do it that way incase something does happen in the future and I need the warranty protection right before the factory warranty is up.

it doesnt cover everything, for example the clicking in the axles that needs to be lubed, or cosmetic issues, like fading of outter trim, or cracking.

But its worth it, infiniti has issues with door locks/actuators failing. I purchased mine the day i purchased my vehicle.
Go for it

I really don't believe in the extended warranty. I figure the FX is pretty reliable and I am betting on it. That's what I tell these salesman when they try to push the extended warranty. I say to them "What !! Why should I get extended warranty, is it that unreliable, that I should spend a few thousand more because it isn't?"

Reason i bought my extended warranty, due to the fact the factory warranty was soon due to be expired.

GE is the company i purchased the extended warranty from. According to the paper work, it covers the motor, trans, all moving parts, electrical, and car rental for the time the fx is in the dealer for repair. I paid 3800. Everywhere you go prices and companies will be different obviously. To me peace of mind.

Dang, at Sewell in Dallas my 6-year 100,000mi Infiniti warranty was like $800. Maybe $1,000.

No deductible/service fee, I've used it a few times. Definitely worth it. They also replaced the washed out trim and bubbled dash with my warranty :)

I've never been told 'no' anytime I've taken it in.

My extended warranty just expired. Didn't really needed it, but I guess it's easier to say that now :dontknow:

Note: I don't drive my FX much. I think I may have only put 5-10k miles on after buying the EW

When you don't buy it, you'll need it or if you buy it you won't....or you'll have the big issue at 121,000 miles...

I don't buy extended warranties because in the long run you will lose out. That's why everyone pushes them. We called it selling paper when I was a salesman at Best Buy in high school. That's how most businesses make most of their money since it has the highest margins. Statistically to them over an average amount of consumers, they make the most on extended warranties. But, if you wouldn't be able to handle a large repair, then it can give you a way to schedule out your payments instead of getting hit with a big bill that you may not be able to handle lets say.
