Grill Mod.

Grill Mod.


While reading some members have painted there front grill, I wanted to do the same. But I didn't want to for 2 reasons. 1) I have a smoke color grill ("rare") 2) I didnt want to have any chips.

So I just painted the emblem (always can replace if needed) and got some black vinyl (automotive/sign) and cut into strips and applied to forward facing part of the grill.

I did it in like 15 minutes so I may have to redo it just so its perfect. But it was a rather simple process.

So the look is black fro the front, but in certain angles, the smoked chrome is seen.

I now pics are bad, but I will update some new ones later. I have a business trip next week so ...

i cant tell for sure from the pics, but did you just do a "chop and extend" on the tips? im trying to decide what route to take. and did you also go with the G extension? im trying to avoid ordering one if possible. hoping to get this done soon. thanks.
oh and the grille looks good. do you have a farther away shot to compare now?
 
Love your FX. Just a question about the before after on the wheels. I noticed that the wheel color seems to change. The before looks like the color of the 03 wheel and the after looks so much better. How did you do it? I have the drab 2003 wheels.

the stock 20s (sport package) stock silver, then painted graphite (wheel paint) then semi gloss (engine paint). .. now off car and have 22 Axis.
 
I noticed that too. They dont even make a hum. They will give a lil' more noise as they break in. You're coming from a loud ass Toyo, so I'm sure it's more than a huge diff.
 
Lookin good, Merch! I never realized your grill was vinyl over sport - I really like the two tone idea there. Also unique, which is always cool. I'm sure you can see the difference in person better than the photos show and it looks pretty good in the photos.
 
nismo Y-pipe back

When you say nismo Y-pipe back, are you saying you used the nismo y-pipe on your set up? It was my understanding that the nismo Y-pipe won't fit the FX.

I do have a Nismo Y-Pipe and they do fit a RWD and not AWD

thanks, one day I was just going to try it out and applied the vinyl which only took 15 miuntes and never took it off. I am thinking of redoing it just to get a "fresh look"

huge difference, Im never buying Toyos, even if they claim they fixed it....
