Hey Joe, we need some video footage of the CAI and when it's Revving. Maybe Humberto can hook us up with a quick Vid?

I'm so glad Humberto is getting the same joy out of this intake that I am!!! Ed is next in line to smile!!! It's a very unique sound. Calm at idle, then resonates exotic at full tilt. I opened this thread being as honest as possible. With Manta Ray induction the VK will inhale larger amount of fresh air. The faster you go, the more you can feel the butt dyno. With supporting mods, It will create even more HP. Again You should have no worries of a CEL. The components of the kit are exactly the same as under my hood. Has been running strong for months, no problems what so eva. I took my time releasing the MR and assembled something Top shelf. Clean and sexy, lean, fit and well tested.
Leaving at 4am tomorrow, so prob my last post. Have a great weekend :iS:!!!

Video away, Please take some good pics at the meet!

Took a 1000 mile road trip to the U.P. of Michigan with The Manta ray. Got some pics up in the media forum if you wanted to take a peek. Thought I would give some feedback. Hit nasty storms on the way there that lasted at least 3 hours or so. Two lane highways, getting stuck behind semi trucks that created constant gusts of solid mist. Kept my speed steady around 70-80 mph. With Lola VK floored, was passing at 95-100 with no issues during the down pour. No hesitation, loss of power, ect... The Manta Ray Passed this endurance test with flying colors! At 60 mph through the populated areas was avg. about 22-23 mpg. At 85 mph, including passing bursts at up to 100 was avg. about 19 mpg. Not to shabby. I was pushing her hard for you guys, but It wouldn't break. And that makes me a proud papa:smug:!

What a moring...

WTF.... I was stopped at a red light and the FX just shut down. I got her to start back up again and then this happened.

I said to myself.. Ohhhh come on...

Before relaxing and thinking what it might be, my mind wondered and the first thing that came to my mind was if there was any issues with the cams or if there was any miss firing issues.. ughghg. Then I realized that it might be the CAI and an error on my part when I did the install...

During the install I was careless when using the universal T and broke off a piece. I jimmied it and wrapped it with electrical tape and it came off during my drive to work.

Luckily I was 2 blocks away from my office and was able to open the FX up (In a full suit mind you) and open the hood and took a look and sure enough the vacuum hose came off..... I'm so glad this happened while I was at a dead stop and not on the FWY...

Here is a pic of what it looked like when I took the cover off.

Before heading back from Chicago, Slamming45 had send me some extra T's that I remembered that I left in the rear sear pocket and did the correct install.

If it wasent for this universal T I don't know what I would of done....All is well and I thank Slamming45 for providing a comprehensive step by step illustrated manual on the install that helped me trouble shoot and fix my problem in a matter of 30 mins...

and that's why you dont use electrical tape/duct tape for installs like that....lmao

:eek.: I was just gonna say. Where are those universal Ts? I remember I handed to you at the Z meet. Sweet hear it all is well.

Yeah Guys.. The electrical tape was a last minute thing while I was at Ed's home.

He was in the middle of the move and it was 10:30 at night so there was no where to really go.

that's right brotha... the Z meet... Man that day was a blur to me after getting back home at 3:30 am.. LOol

Yes, and Humberto had to "borrow" my neighbor's electrical tape. I didn't have a car either and couldn't leave the house as I was watching my son.

Not really easy to find a T hose at night with a car that is half apart and with all my tools at the other house.

Glad it worked out for you Bert. I can imagine what you went throught though

Well lucky for you that you still had the T's in your car.

Sent from my Android

First thought that crossed my mind while I was fixing it was thinking what my Brotha would say: " Darn it Berto, why didn't you just take care of it when the car got back." LOL
:tongue (2):

Well we all know how much you miss ridding her or as you put it, "drive like I stole it". Just glad that the Ts are readily available and got you back on the road instantly.

'Fvck me!' lol
Glad you got that fixed

I immediately said if you can catch it: "Have to edit that out" LOL

No problem Bert! Tried to make the Manta Ray Manual as easy to follow as possible. I'm glad H.A. got the extra T's to you, that I gave him and everything worked out. Also Very glad you were not dead in the water too long. Hate that feeling, no doubt. The T's are so much eaisier to install with a finger dab of oil. I am now including two with every kit, just in case.

Forgot to add that I was hauling luggage two people and a 100lb stereo system.

06 M45 has same MAF and location of 06-08 FX45. Just need to see if mounting points are the same.....

With your skill, you could EASILY make it work, if modification are even needed.

To answer Ed's questions:
1)Replacement filters can be bought through me, I am now an authorized distributer for the company I'm getting the Heatshielded filters from. If you want you can order straight through them but it will cost more. I'm buying in bulk and won't upcharge.
2)I have had NO issues, been running strong on mine for months.
3)The Breather filter in the above pics is rather large monster. For the kits I've changed to something very similar. It's chrome with stainless/white element but about 2/3s the size. Everything else in the kit is identical.

Can you make this happen for me this week and ship it out to me.

I would love to get this on My M.:ninja:

Maybe Send 2 to me so I can save Jeff on shipping..

Sorry Bert, been burried in Ed's ride for the past few weeks and away from reality. The 06+ Manta Ray is unfortunatley still in the desighn stages. Been waiting on Dlaska to have time for hands on fitment. Hopefully soon.
