The Infiniti FX and Towing...

Some of you may know me from G35driver, myg37 etc, and we are looking to add an SUV to our garage. Top runner right now is the Acura MDX 2012, but since I drive an 08 G35, and we have had 3 other G35s prior to it, we would like to try an FX.



Only stipulation is the SUV has to tow. Our boat is over the 3500lb cap, but I was curious if anyone else had towed with theirs that may have been over the towing limit. I feel like 3500lbs is a pretty light estimate. The MDX does 5k.

We can get a SMOKING lease deal on an Infiniti, thats why I was looking at the FX35 and the JX35 to replace our 09 Altima 2.5S. But this whole towing situation is concerning me.

Any insight would be appreciated. I also dont mind looking at pics of FXs towing!!!
 
mdx does 6k i believe. i drove my uncles mdx with a boat which is 3.5k total with trailer with his 2012 mdx. was amazing when towing. didnt feel the boat at all even when braking. Just my opinion on the mdx towing.
 
I'm not concerned with the MDX and towing. It seems like those things are pretty beefy with a load behind them. We would just like to stay with Infiniti i think.


Just curious about the FX and or even the JX35!

The MDX looks like a fairly decent tow vehicle.

Hey Janick, how have you been. You know I love my FX and if I was to replace it it would be with another FX.
The Fx is not rated to tow more than 3500 so you are SOL. My neighbor has an MDX and he tows with it and he is towing 5,ooo lbs, he told me it is at it's limit and when towing it has a real thirst for fuel.
If you were doing limited towing of 3500 lbs with the FX it would do fine, but other than that you would need a heavier tow vehicle.
Did you get rid of the full size Chevy truck you had.

Late response to this thread, but hey Wayne, good to hear from you again.

I think if we did end up getting an FX, we would only use it for towing snowmobiles or my little 5X10 utility trailer that I usually tow the lawn mower on or the 4 wheels. Either of our smaller trailers would be under the 3500cap so that would be fine, and then if we ever go anywhere with the boat, to take the pickup. My pops has been talking about getting a crew cab in the next year or so anyways so the tiny extended cab wouldn't be as big of a deal.

Does anyone else tow trailers at all with their FXs?
