The first three months as a new owner of a used FX were great!!!

I posted this before, but do you think I'll be able to find as good a deal later on?

I can get it for $700 shipped. My 2003 doesn't have the little crescent design above the Infiniti logo -- any idea why? Or just a subtle design change?

As for that seller, he's acting shady so I'd not bother. That hatch looks like it went through a tornado.. Maybe it's good but if it's not.. It's a loss..

Thanks -- I don't want to be in a hurry, but also if there's one out there and the price/condition won't get any better, I guess I won't wait. Of course, ideal would be to find a nice Beryllium hatch -- seems like I saw one in the last two months while waiting for this to get resolved. Must've sold. I think it was $900. The only other concern is the shop I got the work done with -- I don't want too much time to go by before I got back to finish it up -- don't need someone acting like I'm not entitled to what I paid for -- part of the thing is they were going to finish up some of the work once the hatch came in, work I've already paid for.

All 1st Gen hatch are the same. The little crescent is there on 03 for sure. Its the lighting on the ebay photo gave it a bit more stands out. I think $700 shipped is a bit high though for a stripped down hatch... no third brake lights, or the molding on top & bottom of the license plate. That hatch looks very clean though, but $$$ still a bit high.

Now that I see you mention about you don't want to have too much time goes by from the shop, I would just get it and have the work done. I have not seen any hatch around $600 on ebay for sure.
 
The thing about salvage yards in that they don't seem to be too interested in publishing their inventory online. You have to hunt them down one by one, call and ask questions. Like busting out the (virtual) phone book before the internet days.
 
The place that had the nice one linked above lowered their price on the listing, so I got back in touch and we settled at $650. Seems fair enough. Looks like it's in great shape...won't have to replace the glass and can try to sell my glass. I'll post some pics when the work is all done. Thanks for everyone's help.
 
I used to have a 04 FX35 and I always thought that the hatch was fully metal! It looks to me that it's like a hard plastic shell?! Is any part of the hatch actually metal?
 
If I recall, Infiniti did this to save weight. I also remember reading something about the hood being made of a different material to save weight, but I could be wrong.
 
Nope -- all plastic, for sure. Mine has cracks all over it now. At first the guy was going to try to repair it. Better for him (he gets paid for labor) and me (cheaper than new hatch). But, he backed out of that saying there was too many cracks and it just didn't feel like the right way to go.
