The family and FX are moving

Well,

With buying my 2010 FX35 in West Michigan last year, it endured a pretty good winter and now with my commute has rung up almost 20,000 miles, we're heading out.

We moved to Mi from California (San Diego) last year, and as our fortunes have it, we're going back to California again. I'm joining a new startup, and with that a move back.

So I'm wrangling with trying to arrange to drive the FX across country as my return comes before the family. I'll keep this post updated if i end up driving instead of shipping the car. Can't wait to get California plates on it, and hopefully see some So Cal FX's around Irvine. Not many people buy foreign cars in West Michigan, let alone Infiniti's.

Thanks for a good year and a half Michigan, and we're looking forward to coming home to California where we want to live for good.

Ohh and bone stock White AWD w/Nav, mods to follow with my pay raise. Woo hoo

that is one long drive amigo. if you do end up driving, be ready for the biggest bug fest everywhere on your car.good luck.

I did that drive from Wyoming to socal with my brother in law last year. Not too bad of a drive as we took our time. Did the first leg non stop, 19 hours to Colorado. Then we hit Moab, Vegas and eventually LA.

Too bad we never got to meet up in west Michigan while you were around. Maybe in SD someday as I hope to drive back out when I can.

Safe travels and congrats on the new job!

Welcome to the Scene and congrats on your new job and adventures in Cali. I wish I lived in Cali were I can have my 22" rims on all year long and not have to be switching to winter rims.

LoL...Sean has been around since last year. But I'm sure he appreciates the welcomes. :tongue (2):

Oops I thought he was new never really seen a post by him. But guess a late welcome lol

Yeah, been around since last year, but I post very little while checking every day. I was so new to the FX, that I couldn't add much and my wife won't let me mod anything yet.

I did the drive when I graduated from college to move from NJ to the SF Bay Area. I loved it and did it in 2.5 days. NJ to Des Moines on day 1, Iowa to Elko Nevada on day 2 and rolled into SF around noon on day 3.

Michigan was good to us, but we're really California at heart. West Mi is really conservative and sparsely populated and deeply religious, while California (at least on the coast line) is decidedly opposite. We fit the latter very well.

Anyhow, I'm down for some meets in So Cal (Irvine area is my work) once I get down there.

BTW, I work presently for Johnson Controls-Saft. The president came to our factory last week. Building a factory for electric car batteries was so awesome. Wish I could share pictures of this place.

And thanks for the belated welcome. I'm gonna post more often now.

moving update

Hey Folks,

Well, after much consideration, and a good relocation option from my new employer, we've decided to ship the FX while I fly down to Orange County. She'll be on a truck for a week, and if my previous relo from CA to MI is any impression, I'll be washing her right away to make a brown FX35 look all shiny and white again. We figure it save me driving stress, wear on the car, since it's my new employer's nickel, a more comfortable option. We'll save the big drives to the dessert trips we'll take once back west.

I'm looking forward to seeing more Infinitis in general and more than the handful of FX's here in W. Mi. Let's meet somewhere between SD and Orange county in Sept or Oct.

More to come, maybe a truck loading picture or two.

update and quick Caddy SRX review

Hey All,

Just an update for ya. I gotta grab some $1,000 large ones to pay for the car tomorrow as it's arriving around 10-12 in Irvine. First stop, car wash. Look for a truck carrying a white FX 35 on I5 and probably Bake Parkway sometime in that window. It'll be mine.

I got a rental for the week from Avis and landed a brand spankin new Caddy SRX. Same mileage, very nice loaded interior. That being said, bluetooth sucked, need to call OnStar to input into nav, and frankly the buttons were hard to navigate and felt like more inudstrial feel to everything. I expected a softer feel to everything, and it felt somehow old school mechanical. The buttons on the steering wheel for example, are hard press on the Caddy while the FX brand has the softer feel up/down jogs and more smooth push buttons. Just my feelings. I prefer the FX over the Caddy for sure, but it did have a bigger hatch.

Peace

Alive and kicking. FX arrived yesterday is and had 2 layers of dirt on it. 1st wash has gotten it down to the bottom layer of dirt film that remains from a touchless wash. I'll be getting her detailed on Saturday down in SD.

1st couple days commute average 22.1mpg on display. The caddy was only giving me about 18-20 for the week. Similar I guess.
