The Beast - FX45 :: 2004 Infiniti FX45

 All right you're done with your interior.
Oh, I bet wrap that knob requires some mad skills. Kudo for you. :good:

What happened to your other shift knob? I thought that one looked awesome...

Still eagerly awaiting what you are doing with the rear AE's...

Ha ha unless I see something on here I'd want to do ;)

I wish I had a third hand at one point. It was a war zone while I was doing it lol. But I figured out a shape to cut out and then just really slowly stretch, heat, pull, stick and repeat.

I thought my mirrors were a pain, then the door handles, now this is on top of my list.

Oh that one fella part on me one day this summer. It was so hot that I guess it couldn't handle the heat and the whole top part separated, spring fell out and it would not stay together after I tried putting it back together.
So revived the old knob. ;)

I hopefully should have the AEs finished this weekend.

It's finally finished. My tail lights project adding LED dual strip to the bumper reflector and LED ring inside of the inner tails.
Here is a few pix of the finished lights.

I want to do the LED reflectors as well. I am still waiting for the strips and trying to figure out how to wire them. I was thinking they just come on when the lights are on, not connected to the brake. How did you wire yours? Use a relay, or have to change the fuses? or just tapped into other wires and left it like that?

That is sick, can't wait to see the DIY

Thanks G! I will do my best to write it today and take some pix.

There is a couple ways you can wire them up.
If you wanted to have them duplicate the functionality of the main tail lights, i.e. break, blink, shine :) you would tap into the tail light relay module in the trunk.

I wanted them to be strictly to be on when the lights come on, without anything else, so I connected mine to the side marker light.

I honestly didn't feel there was a need for a relay, I had no problem with the way I hooked them up.
I started with single strip first, then a year later I swapped it out for a dual strip.

that's exactly how I want them done. I did this before on my 3G TL but I was replacing the bulb with a strip, not just adding the strip to the bulb. I just wasn't sure if I would need to change the fuse or not. But if yours works by just tapping into the side marker then I see no reason mine shouldn't. Thanks

Now I am waiting for that DIY for the ring in the tails :good:

No I just replaced the Audi LED's and reused the same covers. The passenger side one got busted when someone hit my mirror, so decided to go with the Volvo ones, rather than getting another Audi LED to replace it.

Yeah I managed to recycle and redo the covers with a bit of bondo :))
Next mod, dunno yet. Have to think.
Am waiting for rim rings, to add to my wheels, after I color match them to the car. But that's cosmetics.

I received my LED strips in the mail and there isn't enough for 2 rows. Damn it, now I have to wait 3 more weeks.

did you used the white or red LEDs behind the bumper reflectors?

I feel like my FX suffered a bit this year even though it's fixed in the full sun I swear I see all shades of different liquid copper paint, so I talked with my body shop and on Monday she is going in for The Spring repaint! After weighting in full wrap vs paint I realized I'd miss the gloss of my paint and I really love the color, I was considering the Aztec brown wrap, which is nice but I love to wax my FX and make it all shiny.
Also finally painting the wheel fish trim molding and rocker panels in graphite, same color as my grille and wheels, re-wrapping both mirrors and might delete the rear reflectors, since I already have more lit up tail lights than most cars.

How much of a price difference between wrap and paint? Just sort of curious what shops are charging to paint the FX since it's slightly bigger than a car, but not quite full size SUV.
