The headlights actually have a light smoke vinyl tint on them. I need to take some pictures in an overcast and it'll show up better. I don't know if I want to go any darker for loss of night visibility and police attention... Thoughts? Maybe I need to just paint the inners of the headlights. That would finish it off. Damn, another item on the todo list.

Once you go black........Heads have to go darker, not dangerously so but there has to be a middle ground where they will tie in better with the overall effect and still give you good night time vision.
 
Killer, man - looks great. I agree about the heads tho - gotta color match the insides. Do that and you might not need any tint on them at all.

Only other thing I see on the whole car - exhaust tips. Maybe black ceramic coating? Would be pretty cheap to DIY. Just sayin - it's the only chrome on the whole car, you know?

I agree about the exhaust note - once you change the exhaust, that FX growl is gone forever. You still get great sound - but it's more of an unknown - no way to tell what you will get until you install it and hear for yourself. I can tell you most people love the change. Only twice in my life have I even heard of somebody buying an exhaust and then selling it immediately cuz they didn't like it.

Thanks everyone. Looks like the head light painting in the forecast for the very near future then. Maybe this weekend if I can get the paint tomorrow.

That's interesting you mention the exhaust tips. I can get them powder coated for like $20. But what DYI paint could I use?

My roomate has a highly modded M3 and he complemented my exhaust today. (its factory!) I'm code naming it the "Infiniti Growl".

I was also reading a post from turbo a while ago and he stated that the factory exhaust is pretty well made so there isn't much I would gain power-wise. I don't know if $800 is worth it to change the sound that I already like. Its a few notches down the todo list. Maybe my opinion will change before then.

Looks awesome. Personally I would not paint the exhaust. I was never a fan of painted exhausts. Definitely agree with painting the inner headlights though. That would really complete the package.
 
I know what you mean about the smoke tint. They look awesome at sunset. And it's very hard to take a picture of it. It looks way better in person. I say keep the lights as is.
 
all blacked out looks so mean, black tips would be cool, I want to black out my tips eventually too because I never ever clean or polish them, black it won't matter as much I guess :tongue: I also agree it don't really have to have black headlights... sometimes that little extra contrast can be the one thing that keeps it from just being a bit too much. I'm sure it would look good with them too but it don't really need them.
