The 2013 Infiniti Lineup: Charting the Changes

Only thing new FX owners aren't going to like about that 3.7 engine is that it's very noisy. On a cold start it has a diesel sound to it that's very loud and annoying. Has something to do with the VVEL. Not saying that you have to use it but without the Nissan Ester oil it ticks alot. Thats the way the G37 loaners sounded when I got them.

What makes up for it is the amazing power!

Sorry I had to lol:

I hope the FX37 will sound like that!

mine is vvel and it's just fine. You don't really notice much and the power of it makes up for it in a second.

adding the 3.7L will also come with a price. will it make a huge difference in power? Look at what a stock 7AT does in the 2009/2010 M35 RWD and what a 2011 M37 RWD does...yes two different platforms but they are close in performance.

honestly no one floors their cars thats is how the VVEL really helps in performance...overall driving there won't be significant difference. the biggest difference i felt was from the EX35 when it went from a 5-speed in 2008-2010 to a 7-speed auto in 2011-2012...

pricing isn't released yet but expect it to jump slightly just like the mid 2011 year change did with the chrome accents added and the power liftgate.

Damn I missed getting the FX37 by a couple of months!! I don't know whether that's a good thing or a bad thing!!! Those extra horses would have been serious!!!
Grrrr...me too! I bought my 2012 FX35 in mid-May and scoured the Internet beforehand trying to learn whether the 3.7L motor was coming to the FX. Given the 2012 refresh, I didn't see this coming. Oh well--the performance boost shouldn't be too noticeable due to the negligible change in torque (although the 3.7L's torque curve is supposed to be "wider and flatter"). I kind-of figured that upgrades in the 3.7L mainly benefitted NVH and fuel economy. I was just hoping that my car would be the "latest and greatest" for more than two months.

Regarding the exhaust, I had an '07 G35 coupe and currently have an '11 G37x sedan. IMHO the G35's exhaust sounded waaaaay better than my G37's does (although I realize I'm comparing coupe to sedan and across different generations). Still, there's no guarantee that the FX37's exhaust will sound better (or even significantly different) than the FX35's does.

I am more than happy with the 3.5 in my 2010. I really don't need any more power(no I am not that old), as it would just get me into more trouble. What I would have liked is more MPG. That seems to be the main place Our FX line is lagging in compared to the competition. A lot of the Comp has gone to turbos and diesel engines to squeeze out more MPG. Plus I like the tried and true, time tested 3.5L . Of course I may be a little biased since I just recently purchased my FX35
