Techno square substitute fx45 2003

Just got my FX not too long ago and looking for a techno square type tune. I may just go have a custom dyno tune done but in the meantime trying to find something that will make a little bit of a difference. Or would it be better if I just went ahead and had it dyno tuned. Checking around the local dyno shops it's going to run me about $750 in the DFW area. I could pull the fuse and that will open up more dyno shops, I haven't seen a clear answer on if it loses horsepower running rwd.

$750 for custom tune sounds like the going rate. I paid $550 (a very good deal) here in the Chicago area. Going rate around my area is $700 as well. The whole new car feel after the tune. It worth every dollar IMO.

+1 Worth every penny.. Yet I would wait until you have all of your Intake, Exhaust, Torque converter and Valve Body Upgrade before you get it done.

I'd get a proven one and one that involves a dyno tune. JET is off the shelf and it looks like just a piggyback with a canned tune inside. Never heard that many good things about them.

With regards to the VB, you can do it separate from the tune as it really doesn't have any impact. Intake/exhaust stuff I would do first since that needs to be taken into account when tuning. And the best deal for a VB is the Transgo kit. Level10 is just using a Sonnax Zip kit (same parts as Transgo or any other shift kit) and then charging for labor. If you can tackle it yourself or find a competent shop, Transgo is going to do the same thing for less money. Everything Level10 is overpriced and iffy quality. A high stall converter is going to give you faster launches (it's the equivalent of dumping the clutch at the stall speed) but result in lower fuel economy and put more wear on your transmission. Basically your transmission is slipping below the stall speed at which point it "catches" and off you go. So when launching, you're right in the power band which is great. The not so great part is that you're causing a ton of heat since the transmission is slipping below stall speed.
