Several weeks ago, while driving on the Interstate,a piece of truck retread was bounced up by a vehicle ahead of me and it ened up hitting the lower right front just in front of where the laser sensor is located.
Everthing appeared undamaged but when I reset the cruise and started closing on a slower car I realized that the sensor had been knocked out.
Anyway the cost of the sensor with the mounting bracket and labor is over $2700.00!!My insurance paid in full with no deductable.
Looks like an easy fix,as the part is a simple bolt on unit that is easily accessible just in front of the lower radiator.
Has anyone had this happen and can this part just be purchased and replaced by myself.Already have the $2700.00 check made out to me,but this cost seems quite high.

Any opinions? Thanks.

From what I've read in the factory service manual you can't just install it and call it a day. It has to be installed then adjusted. I don't know if that involves using the dealers computer or not. I'd get their opinion on it first.
