Tear in leather seats

I have 2 small but very noticable rips in the passenger seat. It basically looks like someone just took a key and pierced through the leather. My friend who hopped in the car must have had something on his jeans or maybe had some keys sticking out of his pocket :mad.: I was wondering if anyone has any products that they know of that would maybe help shrink the tears a little, make em less noticable, or even a method i can use to patch it up?? Any help would be appreciated. I also checked out Fire0nic3's leather restoration treatment stuff he used but that seemed to be more for cleaning and keeping our seats nice.

After so many miles the OEM seats tend to begin tearing on the sides. I had my seat removed, the damaged seat panel removed and replaced, then re-installed the seat for about $200 at a local upholstery shop.

I just had the vinyl on the side of the driver's seat repaired. It was completely shredded. I took it to a shop here in the valley and the shop's owner said that he sees FX's all the time with cracked vinyl in the same place...the left side of the seat bottom.

For $170 they repaired the replaced the vinyl with a new piece to match what was there. Good as new. I just wish Infiniti used thicker vinyl there, or even better, real leather.

leather seats change

Hey guys,

Is it possible to change the seats? meaning left seat to the right and vice versa.

Because on the left side of the driver seat is a bit :mad.:cracked and when i change the seats it will be less noticeable.

1. I HIGHLY doubt that you can swap seats.

2. Wouldn't it be easier just to get the tear repaired?

Maybe thats the best way.
Rather dissapointing to read that the "leather"is vinyl basically.

By the way I imported the fx35 to Holland last year in a quite well condition.
Its a great car to drive and evenso performance.
Here in the netherlands there is only one dealer of Infiniti in Amsterdam and there are probably 150-200 fx driving. When they see one a lot of guys look: What kind of car is that?
It"s a classic model which will last.....

If you swapped the seats, then the seat controls would be backwards. I don't think the repair kits will work or last that long. Especially not for Infiniti's "pleather". The best alternative, albeit pricey, is to redo the whole interior. I know my next big mod will be to re-skin the seats into a "brickish", baseball glove like leather interior. :smile (2):

On the 06 and up the seat controls are on the door so maybe a seat swap would be possible (passenger to driver and vice versa) but i think i read somwhere that it still could not be done.

All this talk about leather seats makes me want to get mine redone even more now. My tear is worse now and its starting to crack even more on the sides.
